Excellent initiative from a beautiful soul who cares about his fellow students and actually does something. A rare species these days.

My alma mater, Towson University, offer a fund for donations to help with food insecurity and emergencies. Going to college when interest rates were 20%+, I remember food insecurity very well.

@@tukicat1399 Professor Professorson was a character in Community. The OP's comment is something Britta would say. I was just making a joke. I've run out of money when I was in college as well. Living on Ramon Noodles for a week is almost a right of passage. One of the most offensive things that I can remember in college was when a bunch of students decided to sleep outside overnight to 'empathize' with the homeless. College kids need to get over themselves

Thank you for this story. I run a nonprofit that runs pantries and coolers on the street in a Texas two state college town. We had never thought about the college students. We are now considering putting pantries and coolers close to the colleges. ❤

The most horrifying thing about this story is the phrase 'food insecurity'. In state tuition is 11K and out of state tuition is 41K. Yeah, people have to sacrifice A LOT to go to college.

Healthy, unprocessed food isn't cheap. Food deserts are everywhere. The Food Security org this UT public health student started is the first activity based on common human decency to come out of Texas in a long time. Hope is not lost.

While it's great these kids found a way to transport students in larger groups. At the same time though since when is a 20 minute walk to a grocery store somehow being food insecure? Then later to hear this privileged kid had a car the whole time.. 😂 And also lives in West Campus which is certainly not the cheapest student living .

HEB delivers to UT campus. Target grocery delivers. You can walk to Wheatsville or West Campus Market. There are multiple food pantries on campus. There are too many restaurants.
