It was an overcast day at MSP where normally I wouldn't go out plane spotting, but I made an exception as Icelandair brought in their 757-300 painted in the colors of the Icelandic flag to celebrate Iceland's 100-year anniversary of sovereignty in 2018. The aircraft is named Þingvellir (pronounced Thingvellir) after the prairie lands in Iceland, which had one of the oldest parliaments in the world. More info on it can be found here: www.icelandair...
From what I've heard it should be common to see Icelandair sending 757s to MSP this summer, so I'm going to try to get video of some of them (especially if they send in the other 757s painted in special colors). While Icelandair's 757s should be around for at least a couple more years, better to get them now before they're gone forever.
Also of note is the Aer Lingus A330 taxiing for takeoff. I've made several attempts to get a better video of them than the one I took from the airport dog park where they unexpectedly took off on the crosswind runway, but I've always picked a bad spot to see them land or takeoff. In the video it looks like they're taxiing to Runway 17/35, and after Icelandair landed I drove to a spot by the Mall of America to see them takeoff, but I should've stayed where I was for Icelandair because they ended up using Runway 12R/30L. I'll keep making attempts to get better video of them when I have the time and motivation, and it should be easy with two of the four runways closed this summer, but it's been more difficult than anticipated.
