Oh boy do I have vintage jewelry. When my Mom passed away in 2015, I inherited 4 vintage train cases full of it! A lot belonged to her Mom as well as years of my Mom collecting jewelry in the early 70's for a song. Nobody appreciated that stuff back then. I also inherited her vintage jewelry christmas tree. It's especially beautiful because it is lit with small lights. I found 3 books in her stuff on how to make these trees. I plan to make 2 more of the trees so I can gift one to each of my daughters.

When my husband passed away I took all his ties and made wreaths for my two daughters. Making wreaths our of your things that have a special meaning can be so much fun and creative. My girls just loved there wreaths I made them. They can be left up all year round. I also added some buttons to them.

I made one a few years ago, but I clipped all the hardware off the back of each brooch so they would lie flatter to the wreath. (they were broken anyway, no one was every going to pry it off the wreath and wear it!!). Then I tried to hold each brooch in the palm of my hand and kind of mold it so it fit flatter on the wreath. Yours is gorgeous!

I could not watch this as I love the beauty of vintage costume jewelry whether real or not. I would sew- tie the jewels, bling, pearls with fishing line or double thread onto the fabric bound wreath. Then you can change your mind and repurpose again without damaging the jewelry and just snip the thread or line and the back. Just a thought as a lot of vintage jewelry is valuable and cherished and sought after even broken ones now by collectors to get restored. I love the nostalgia of them.

My daughter made her wedding bouquet using old jewellery, it was beautiful, that was the first time I saw that. She used a few of my mom’s old costume jewellery that was broken. She wore my mom’s old pearl necklace with her wedding gown, that was her something old.

What a fun idea this would be for a crafting party! Everybody could bring their own pile of sparkly treasures and ribbons and work on their wreaths together. Also, I wonder if actually sticking the pins from the brooches and earrings into the foam wreath would help them stay put, along with the glue.

Selena what a great wreath! One year I went to visit my creative and fun Aunt, I sat down and remarked at the sweet real tiny tree on her side table. OMG Aunt Carol decorated the tree in her real jewelry, she had wonderful pieces, vintage and new and she said she wanted to refresh her memories, now what a delicious tree any girl would love. She passed but she often is near me, I laugh and tell her I love her❤️.

TIP: When using a foam base, you can use the pins or posts on the jewelry pieces to help secure them. Open the brooch pin clasp and stick the pin down into the foam. Then glue as needed. Earring posts...the same. It makes them much more secure. OR you can snip off the pin/clasp or post with a wire cutter to make the piece flatter and easier to glue on to your base. Cheers! I love the wreath you made!!!

I made a tree last year in a shadow brand new shadow box I found at my local thrift store. I absolutely love it! Seeing those vintage pieces my mom, mother in law and my past make me happy. Now I need a wreath! I made a few shabby chic ones on a wire base last year as well and I added bling to them. I hung them on the sides of my heavy gilded dining room mirror during valentine month of February. I also decorate the chandelier and table. It’s the little things that mean so much. These beautiful treasures pieces of art that we make by hand become heirlooms.

This is an amazing idea! I inherited all of my aunt/godmother’s costume jewelry and I put some of the necklaces and bracelets in clear glass ornaments from Walmart and I hang those on the tree. They’re so sparkly! I also bought a stuffed red felt Christmas tree that’s only about 8” high. So I used all of her pins for that. I just pinned them all over it and it looks super cute.

I have made a couple of those Christmas tree mosaics and I've found that it works a lot easier if you use metal snips to cut off the findings first. Once you've cut off those pins on the backs of the broaches they're much easier to glue down. I also use a jewelry craft glue instead of hot glue. No spider webs! I never thought of making a wreath before. Great idea!

Try Pinning the brooches to the ribbon first. Then glue the rest on. If the ribbon is put on securely it will make the pins more secure. It looks great though. Imagine if it were all real diamonds and gems! Ive used these on so many decorations and my fav is a tiny tree in my bathroom decorated with pearls for garland and odd and single earrings. The blue is a great accent color!

Woah...watching your videos..binge watching..lol..&....i feel like...i am looking into a mirror, 30+ years past.......i did then what you are doing now..dressed like a queen/gypsy/milkmaid/fae/dripping in jewels, etc & my house looked like an eclectic Palace inside...some days, others, it was a sea side cottage, or a rustic cabin in the deep woods, others still it was an english cottage, then, shabby chic, maybe a Villa or a Swiss Chalet, & then back to a palace again, Oriental this time or perhaps Persian...always evolving...only..i had black hair & lived on a lake on the tippy top of the biggest mountain here...but heck ya, a lifelong crafter, & i earned it with hard work & tireless effort..hit endless yard sales, auctions, estates, & antique shops, etc etc...i fixed & repaired daily, painted & drilled & glued & sawed & measured & refinished & sewed & wired & reset stones & pearls & reconstructed endlessly, even in my sleep...& soon my lake house grew a few more rooms just to hold all the cool things i found...then..it overflowed & i began setting up the empty house next door to sell some of it....well..Life happens, & out of the blue hubby's company 'downsized' & they cut almost every one of the Senior management, of which he was one, & since it was still off season for selling my paintings, & there was no internet yet, i had to get a 'real job' that had insurance & benefits, asap....Not done yet ;) ..while at work one dreary especially stormy spring day, lightening hit the 'shop' & no one was home, he was off somewhere drowning his sorrows..so..it burnt to the ground..i learned he never put insurance on it ("yet, but i was going to." he said)..& that was the end of the Dream...my own house was far enough away they were able to keep it from catching fire...so..ya....it is so...Refreshing! Heartening! ..to see You living the dream!! YAY! All my Best Wishes for you, lovely Lady...be Smarter than me, keep your eyes on the prize & Go knock em dead ;)
