Thanks for the detailed review. I had been looking at Hilleberg and MSR but weight is a big factor for me in back country camping. The tent colour does emit a warm glow at night when lit up from inside. I slept in a Mont 4 season tent in 50km winds recently. It flapped quite a bit compared to Hilleberg which is so sturdy from experience. It seems MSR is in between the two tents.

Great video! Thanks for the review. Im highly considering this tent, but ive read reviews of the poles splintering or fraying at the ends. Have you experienced anything like that? And I've seen other videos showing the tents buckling in strong winds. What's been your experience with bad weather in this tent?

Hey, I’ve also read that about the splintering poles but haven’t experienced them doing that yet. I’m going to get this tent high up in the Sierra Mountain Range this winter and see how it does in the winds. I haven’t had it in anything over 20 mph. But I will say I’ve used MSR warranty and they have amazing customer service. So honestly I wouldn’t hesitate to check it out. Of course this tent isn’t meant to go above tree line I’m still going to try. I would most likely build a wall of snow to block some winds. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the review. What do you sleep in terms of sleeping bag and clothing?

Thanks for checking out the video. For frigid nights around 0 Fahrenheit I use a Patagonia R1 top with hood , OR wool bottoms, down booties from Western Mountaineering. If it’s super cold I will wear the Patagonia Das Parka and Mountain Hardwear Compressor Pant. My sleeping bags change depending on what I’m doing. If I’m trying to go UL and space in my pack is a concern I will use the Patagonia Hybrid sleeping bag (not made anymore) most times I use a emergency blanket with this. If I’m trying to stay cozy and not care much about weight I will use the Patagonia bag but also use a 40 degree synthetic quilt by Enlightened Equipment over top. With these two combined I could probably push it down to about -10 without layering much. I should make a video on this. Feel free to check out my latest video on my emergency sleep set up. Cheers Phil

@@AndyOnTheMountain thank you, that’s super helpful. So it’s all about down and experimenting with layers. Yes feel free to make a video. Not many people do winter camping like this, so it’s super fascinating and it helps to learn from others who have done it.

This tent can't even handle 30 miles / hour wind..

@@AndyOnTheMountain I have seen another video about it. And since there is NO harsh conditions in your video except temperature, this video can't conclude anything..

I’ve used this tent and the 2 person version since this video 11 months ago and can conclude this tent can easily withstand 30 mph winds.

It is a great tent; however, it doesn’t keep warmth inside 😂😂😂 (paper thin nylon walls) silly rabbit! No clue what he is talking about in this particular regard!

Thanks for watching. Ya you’re right the material is thin but the tent lacks mesh vents which kept me warmer inside. While eating my soup the temps outside the tent where significantly colder than what it was inside. Most likely bc it’s a 1 person tent and it doesn’t take much to make it warmer. It’s by no means tank top temps inside but it’s better then sleep outside of the tent.

Maybe give this tent a try and see for yourself before knocking down someone’s review 😎.

I owned the tent before selling it on Kijiji so I know what I am talking about! Therefore, I am well qualified to impugn and otherwise rebut this dubious review.

@@Y2J3469 10-4 good buddy. I had a thermometer inside of my tent while hanging out in the evening eating dinner. Temps where drastically warmer then the temp outside. Do you think I lie about my reviews. I could care less if ppl buy this tent or not. I’m giving my opinion as you did too. Just bc it wasn’t warmer for you doesn’t mean it will be that way for someone else. Regardless, it’s going to be warmer then a 3 season tent. Take care.

Well sure, at night, uninsulated tent walls can't really do much more than keep the rain out, snow off, and eliminate wind chill. But those are not insignificant things in cold weather.....which means the conditions inside even a thin nylon tent where the air is still rather than blowing across our skin can be notably better than outside the tent. This effect is further enhanced in 4 season tents via the elimination of large swaths of netting/venting you'd normally find in a 3 season tent. So yeah....even a nylon walled tent feels warmer than outside and can actually BE warmer than outside if you are doing things like running a stove in the vestibule. But........add sunshine to the mix and even an uninsulated thin walled nylon tent can become a veritable heat sink and become downright "warm" compared to outside conditions. I'm often amazed by the amount of heat my thin walled nylon tent can retain when the sun comes up. Would I rely on an uninsulated nylon tent alone to provide insulation and "keep me warm"? Absolutely not. But would I say someone who notes the improved conditions inside a nylon tent vs. outside has no clue what they are talking about? Absolutely not.....especially since, they are in fact, correct.
