MSR Alpine Stowaway 1.1 Liter Pot Review

I'll be reviewing the MSR Stowaway 1.1 liter stainless steel pot. I'll also cook some delicious Ramen noodles to show you how well it works.

Have one of these myself, as well as the smaller versions. Great gear. You can spread the clasp a little to make the handle a little more stable. Also, throw a bag of brown rice, small cans of peas, carrots, corn, chicken and a little brown gravy mix for a great meal. Or Ramen ;)) Thanks for the review.

Yeah, those MSR Stowaway Pots are great! My 775 ml pot fits into a Crown Royal bag perfectly. There are also many KZbin videos that show how to mod them for a bail to hang above a fire. Thanks for making the video.

That you showed us it is capable of cooking two packages of ramen was very helpful in getting an idea of its capacity. Not too small but enough for more than one person. Perfect size. I will be getting one. Thanks, good review.

Great video. When you were using the locking mechanism for the handle (open), doesn't the slide on the handle help lock it tight if yo slide it towards the pot? I assume that is what it is there for. Unless it doesn't stay well.

You know if you slide that bar,one the handle, closer to the lock it holds stronger. That’s it’s job.

Bend the tabs on the side of the pot to lock the handle better. Simple.

It's a compromise. I like that it is not a deep pot, but you can't fit a large fuel canister in it. I know the smaller 110 gram canisters are not that economical and you don't want to head out for the weekend with a partially full canister for obvious reasons. What I've been doing is transferring fuel from a large 1 lb isobutane canister to the 110 g canister using the G-Works gas saver adapter. I usually just top off a partially full 110 g canister. I usually end up overfilling by a few extra grams of fuel. Works like a charm.

hey something I figured with the etek city stove is that you have to figure out the right setting of gas to be able to ignite the stove with the igniter takes some gorging around with but after a little practice I've seem to be able to get it every time. sweet vid by the way

Very amusing, thank you, tho personally I prefer just a single packet of noodles and have therefore just ordered the 475ml version, which should be plenty and if I'm still peckish, 'boom' I can tear open the second pack!!

How would you rate the handle for long-term use? I'm thinking about one but the handle looks so shitty, it seems that on every camping pot there's a compromise somewhere and it's usually on the handle or lid. I currently use a normal kitchen pot with a bakelite handle and it's great, by my new stove doesn't fit inside so I'm looking at an upgrade.
