thanks a lot. I have a "custom" c64 (not costumized by me) with rca video out, mini-jack audio output and a low-noise knob but will need to do what you say about the video pinout . Thanks very much

I used regular analog TV card for recording. S-Video input gives much better quality than composite.... I built my own multi out cable.... Composite, S-Video and audio out on one cable... Just google for c64 video pinout. If you have any experience with soldering, you can build your own cable. Parts are pretty cheap and available in any radioshack store. Adding capacitor to audio out reduces noise.... and it sounds pretty good....

I made a custom cable for 8-pin DIN connector at the back ( 00:52 ). It has composite video, audio and S-Video output. I recorded by regular TV card via S-Video cable. The card is not that good, it looks even better hooked up to a crt TV.

Are the four pots mounted on the breadbox wired directly to a User (joystick) port?

yes I know, I had 3 of c64, now I have one and it looks worth of check what this baby can do to me with a SID ;)! Btw, is any chance to control cutoff and other software knobs with midi controller pluged to cart ?

what monitor and cable connections are you using for the video? ...the clarity is nice..did you mod any of the video stuff...?...I have my C64 with mssiah up and running now, but the video is so poor I can hardly read the parameters on the mono synth app

I have the MSSIAH and I'm thinking about building a 4 pot unit. Dumb question but how do the MSSIAH programs know what each knob does? Do you press the key to 'activate' the pot on the screen, then turn the pot you want to associate with it? I've read the 'Assigning Potentiometers' section in the manual over and over but it's just not very clear.

It seems like a lot of sid tunes don't use the filter too heavily, any reason why?
@mrsid65815 жыл бұрын
The filter in the SID 6581 varies wildly between different chips. A cutoff frequency that sounds too bright on one chip might sound too muffled on another one. In the worst case it can cause filtered instruments to be completely missing for some people, with the composer finding out only after a game was released (listen to Terra Cresta by Martin Galway). That kind of discouraged some of them from using the filter. The 8580 has a more consistent filter, so that's why it's the SID chip of choice for contemporary composers.
