This actually happened to a guy I know. I worked with him for a couple of months and thought he was one of the funniest people I ever met. But then one day he slipped up and told me about his favorite podcast MSSP. After only a few episodes, I realized he was literally biting Shane’s entire persona, vocabulary, and bits. It was a big let down

100% accurate description of what that guy is and came from. Every guy I know that acts like that was a total loser that moved across the country, lost a little weight and started posing as a suit-wearing Republican/Mad Men character/cigar guy. All of them. Same embarrassing posts, all that BS. The funny part is that they do attract the female version of that! The late-blooming, ugly-duckling girl that did turn kinda hot but will forever see herself as the awkward, 14yo girl that not even the dork boys wanted. Those two types come together hard around 25yo. By 30yo they realize what the other really is so it never lasts but for those 5 years they get together and do all that "Early Grind" mindset BS.

I wonder if as Shane gets further and further removed from his "loser who peaked in high school" days, he will lose his hatred of people who were losers in high school but made something of themselves. It had to sting before his career blew up to see guys he would've bullied end up successful and dating hot chicks when Shane was living with roommates.

As someone who also peaked in their teenage yrs before spending most of their 20s broke then got it together again atleast in my experience I kinda expected it. I mean I wasn't totally ignorant of the fact the choices I was making were not setting me up for a great time as an adult but I didn't really care enough to change at the time and paid the consequences. Evidently my youth wasn't entirely misspent as once I took stock and realised I was 26 with no employable skills or any good women/friends in my life I made an effort to change ethat and did through my understanding of social settings and my lived experiences putting me ahead in terms of picking up new things or adapting to complications. I've also listened to all the MSSP and can confidently say Shane's more educated and had far .ore support systems around him to help him succeed. Sorry for the essay.
