Nice build, mate! This kit oozes quality and it looks like you are having a great time putting it together. Congratulations on the bodywork, it looks fantastic! I hope you are doing OK my friend, it's been a while. Thank you so much for the Christmas card, it was a lovely surprise. I did thank you and read out the card in my Christmas Day video and was hoping you would catch that! All the best, as ever. Cheers from Mark...

Hi Mark. Thank you very much my friend. I really did enjoy building this kit and I've wanted one since it was released a few years ago. I've got a big soft spot for these old style Toyota's and I have a nice collection of them now. I also have the MST CMX chassis which was MST's first crawler chassis release and I really like it. It has a wheelbase which is adjustable to the 3 different lengths of the Tamiya CC-01 chassis using different length suspension links which were included in the kit. So I've been using my Tamiya CC-01 Pajero Metaltop Wide & Isuzu Mu & Toyota Land Cruiser 40 bodies on it. When it was first released it was known as "the CC-01 chassis Tamiya should've released" and nicknamed the CC-02. I haven't been very active on social media for a couple of months and I will pm you on Facebook about it. Thanks for watching Mark. Take care mate 🙂👍🏼👍🏼

Derek... I have always loved the MST CFX-W. I've had the HARDEST TIME getting on in the U.S., for 8 years!!! Of all the Bodies, this is by far my favourite!! 👍👍 You've done a fantastic job on it, as usual. Cheers my Friend, have a great Weekend! 👍👍🥂🍺🍺🍺🍻

Hello Carmine. Thank you very much. I totally understand your frustration. I have wanted one of these since they were announced It is also difficult to find new MST crawler kits or RTR's in the UK. There are only a few UK RC hobby sites that stock them and they usually sell very quickly. There is one company in the UK called Drift Manji RC that sells MST Drift car products and they actually had a few of these crawler kits for sale on their eBay site last year so I bought one as soon as I saw it. The other options for buying MST products are Asia or Europe, mainly Germany, and since the U.K left the European union we have to pay the usual charges and shipping costs from both continents.

.... I got to experience your VAT when I bought Mark those Kits... ONE of them was $110!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I've never heard of that kind of tax before! Buying from Asia won't be an option, at least until Covid is over. AsiaTees wants $210 to Ship here!! Eventually....

Good to see the kit being built. One thing I noticed with the design is to work on the gearbox you need to split the chassis.

Hiya Derek. Great video. It's paced fast enough to watch as general interest and has enough detail that people building the kit could pause it at the relevant steps. Looks like such a well engineered kit with all the metal gears and bits. Also the body looks really good and detailed. Hope you are OK mate. Maybe a get together when we stop having storms! Best wishes 🙂

@@hollyhillrc Hello, Derek. I like the relatively forward-positioned motor on the CC-02, and I was puzzled that the instructions say that only the rear diff can be built in the locked configuration. As I was building mine with the low gearing and a 45T crawler motor (ordered before you told me about 5-slot motors) I wanted to lock my front diff. I thought about securing the 3 pinions to the star-shaft with cyano, but then realized that parts bag C (the gift that keeps on giving) actually does contain sufficient bits and bobs to build it locked, whatever the instructions say! I like the oil-filled shocks, and don't understand why they don't include them in more of their kits, particularly M-cars. Though the wheels and tyres look great, I'm frustrated to see how hard a compound Tamiya have used - the chassis can't manage my bsck-garden test track at all. It just spins. I've got a Tamiya Bruiser driver figure for it, and am making a very basic interior. I've ordered some different tyres, too! This MST looks supremely competent, and the instructions are nice and clear, by the looks of things. I hope the build was as much fun as it looks!

@@Del350K4 Hi Del. My Tamiya WR-01 Firestone Big Foot (ex Wild Dagger) only has the rear diff locked and it handles things very well all things considered, so I decided to leave the front open on my CC-02 Unimog before I started the build. (To be honest I didn't realise the instructions say you can only lock the back diff. I will have to dig out the instructions and have another read). It works well for my light trail running. I don't like the kit tyres at all, but I tried a few different ones, including a set of KRT K1 90mm diameter crawler tyres and a set of Fastrax Kong 90mm diameter tyres without success. The main problem was the inside edge of the front ones rubbed against the steering knuckles. I was very disappointed because I run both of these tyres on my CC-01 chassis and they are far superior than the usual concrete compound Tamiya offerings. So I've resigned to using the kit ones until I find something that fits without rubbing. To be fair they don't do too badly in the woods but they do limit it's performance. I guess an adaptor could be used to bring the wheels away from the knuckles but that would make the axle wider and I think it would lose it's scale looks with a wider stance and I don't want that. That's just my personal opinion and taste of course. I will be interested to hear if the tyres you've ordered fit ok. I still have to fit a driver to the Unimog and I need one for this CMX-W as well. This build was a joy and the only thing I had trouble with was deciding whether to have a chassis or an axle mounted servo, because you have the option to do both. So I watched Matteo's build video and he went for the axle mounted option, so I did that. The MST instructions are very good and easy to follow. They're much like Tamiya's instructions. All the parts are drawn to scale, which really helps selecting the correct screws for instance. I've also got an MST CMX kit chassis which was MST's first crawler chassis released in 2016. You can adjust the wheelbase to the same three settings as the Tamiya CC-01 wheelbase using different length suspension links which are included in the kit. I've been using my Tamiya CC-01 Pajero Metaltop Wide body & CC-01 Isuzu Mu body & CC-01 Toyota Land Cruiser 40 body on it. When it was first released it was nicknamed the CC-02 and people said it was "the CC-01 chassis Tamiya should've released". Thanks for your excellent reply Del. See you in part 2 😀👍🏼

@@hollyhillrc Hello again! My wife and I often fit fat, knobbly front tyres to our onroad motorbikes, and find ourselves having to trim the knobbles on the outside edges to stop them from rubbing against the mudguard stays. I anticipate having to do some similar surgery to get my new rubber to clear the steering knuckles on the CC-02. When ordering them I confess that I allowed myself to be guided by scale-looking rins more than anything else, and didn't consider clearance at all! I think the CC-02 is a reasonable try on Tamiya's part, but the similarly-sized Team Associated/Funtek CR-12 performs far, far better, and costs less despite coming with bearings, dedicated crawler electronics, excellent tyres and a radio, as well as being fully assembled. In terms of value for money I think it beats the Tamiya hands down. I must check out the MST "CC-02", and watch Part 2 of your build!

@@Del350K4 I really like the Team Associated CR12 with the Blue Ford F150 body but I think they're discontinued. I love my MST CMX. It's like a small version of the first Axial SCX10 chassis and still much better than the CC-02. These are a some of my videos of it. Hello Mikael. Thank you very much my friend. 🙂👍🏼 Yes I've also got an MST CMX kit chassis that I bought in 2018. It was MST's first crawler chassis which was released in 2016. I bought it because you can adjust the wheelbase to the same three settings as the Tamiya CC-01 wheelbase using different length suspension links which are included in the kit. I have a new Tamiya Amarok body and decals which came with it but I haven't got round to cutting it out and painting it yet ! 😄. So I've been using my Tamiya CC-01 Pajero Metaltop Wide body & CC-01 Isuzu Mu body & CC-01 Toyota Land Cruiser 40 body on it. When it was first released it was nicknamed the CC-02 and people said it was "the CC-01 chassis Tamiya should've released". I have some videos of it on my channel.
