One of my all time favorite MST clips. For some reason "Clown shoes burn like black rubber tires" popped into my mind the other day so glad I was able to find this.

I hear ya. My Aunt calls my Dad everytime someone in their hometown dies or gets mauled in some gruesome bizarre mishap. Tell you one thing. I'm staying away from grain silos and the sewage treatment plants.

I get nervous whenever my mom says "remember _____ from your high school?" because the answer is usually, "they DIIIED!" I swear she enjoys telling people that stuff

@@chillydawgg4354when I hung out with some friends last month, we discussed old classmates from school. Who was in Jail, who died, and who ended up on a Sex Offender Registry. The next class reunion should be interesting.

This segment is just PURE GOLD! this skit brings the perfect atmosphere and feeling of being in a barber shop, Tom Servo reading a magazine, hair products on the desk, Joel wrapped in a smock, Crows hand cutting hair, Discussing the local town gossip and local Twin Cities places: for example, The Hot Fish Shop. Tom eavesdropping on conversations, every thing you'd find in this segment, you'd find in a barber shop. AND THEN Crow talks about the clown festival and the chaos that ensued when the Fire Engine Crashed into the parade. White clown paint smeared all over at the pavement, and packing all of those clowns in a tiny old fashioned ambulance, "and they're still pickin' up clown noses". when I first saw this, I fell over laughing. 8D

Gotta love Tom's delivery on "Oooooh Ooooh, they do a nice job down there. The relish tray to die for --we gotta bring the girls down there --they just love it there." like a robot has two little girls or something. Small town barbershop gossip... with robots... in space. Also, the joke about all 200 clowns fitting in the one car... just awful ;-p

The Fenton boy, the Dixons, which are Hardy Boy references I think. This is a type of humor that will never exist again sadly. Vaudevillian in its lost art.

Didnt Joel own a Hot Fish Shop in real life?

I'm just going to throw this out there so the world can tell me if I'm crazy or not, but... EVERYONE on this show was great! Josh cracks me up as Larry, especially with him and Dr. F's "THANK YOU" bit everytime Joel tells them they've taken something special and turned it evil. I honestly CAN'T say that anyone on this show was better than the replacement, or likewise the other way around. Everyone involved brought greatness to the table, and show excelled because of it.

Lol, during some of the segment, you can see Crow's stick. XD

Am I the only one who finds this segment strangely calming? There's something about it, the white noise in the background coupled with the accents and the nostalgia factor (reminds me of my barber, lol) that I just find so relaxing. And then to take it and make it so dark, lol. Excellent, MST3k, excellent.

It's the simple things in life that make it all worth while. A nice haircut, a chat with old friends......and dead clowns.

@detrius82 I mostly agree. I think, though, that they probably did the best they could with the changes in cast and network demands that took place. Personally, I think the quality of the writing for the movie segments remained excellent, but that the storyline (one was demanded by the sci-fi channel, apparently) spun around the Bobo, Pearl, Observer characters intruded tiresomely on what was originally meant to be a vehicle for jokes (Forrester & Frank, Joel & the Bots)

@detrius82 I am in full agreement with you. Also, it just dawned on me they name-dropped the Hot Fish Shop here, which, of course, comes up again about ten years from now. :) MN/WI references are about half the fun of this show for me ;)

@detrius82 One of my favorite later episodes was "Agent for H.A.R.M." but I when I watch it I have to skip past the host segments. Observer, and particularly Bobo, are like a characters that may have been used for a bit in earlier episodes, but which, unfortunately, were installed as regulars. Kind of like a thin plot premise extended into a full leanghth movie or a silly joke taken way, way too far. Just one man's opinion, of course.
