Can you put food on this surface, like vegetables?
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
This particular resin (you should check out each resin. They are all different) is rated for food contact. You may serve food on it, but not use it to cut on and eat. However it is only food contact safe when it is a clear coat only. So, I always add a clear coat to any artwork that might be used for food like trays.

I’ve never used this brand of resin. Before you pour, do you wait a certain time or until the resin reaches a certain temperature to prevent the colors mixing? Thanks
@ClaraLawrence Жыл бұрын
Stone Coat Resin is an awesome product. Been using them for 5 years now and it has never failed me. Quality stuff. Honestly for the trays or an enclosed project like this. I have done them at all times. Meaning I poured multiples at a time and some would be immediately after mixing and others about 25 minutes afterwards. On a larger surface I might wait a little for that reason. But be careful as a larger mix if left in a cup can speed up the reaction time due to heat.

Can you add acrylic paints to the resin for coloration?
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
You sure can... BUT you have to be careful. There is water in acrylic paint. Too much acrylic paint will cause the resin to seize up quickly while mixing or shortly after and you find out quickly that you had too much. I started out primarily using acrylics. The rule of thumb is no more than 10% color to your resin. However I would say no more than 7% of acrylic. Also, the colors designed to be used in resin are highly pigmented and your colors will end up being very brilliant with them. Hope that helps.

I have a question...i wondered if that tray could be used as a table top mold? Is that possible??
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
Let me see if I can answer the question. If you wanted to use this as the top to a small table you might want to add some wood to the bottom. The wood is as thick as it is on the sides and you would not have much to attach legs to it. The trays are 15 inches across.
@mitchellkauley99564 жыл бұрын
@@ClaraLawrence I was wondering if after the resin is poured in, can it be popped out?
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellkauley9956 Nope. It has bonded with the wood. You would have to cut away or sand the wood away.

Thank you so much, I’ve only just found your channel, this is so beautiful! I’m in Australia & usually follow Aussie artist because I can get the materials they use. I’m wondering how you got the cells, was it the resin or the colour you added to get them? I’m very new to resin art but I’m learning all the time.
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You are welcome to watch as many as you like. Lucky for you there are several products I use that are from Australia. Just Resin, Color Obsession and Color Passion. The resin is Stone Coat Art Coat, but Just Resin's Diamond Cote is also fabulous. Color Passion's Paste will create cells if you move your colors over top of it.

Could you please specify how much resin you use for this pour? Thank you 😊
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
I can try. I usually mix a large amount and do several projects, due to the long working time. I would mix up about 8-9 oz. for this tray if I were only doing one.
