As a musician, I can 100% believe this. (good) Professional musicians have *impeccable* time. As in, knowing where the beat is *exactly* after minutes of silence. There are an insane amount of similarities between musicians and speedrunners: Muscle memory, precise inputs, (in some games) the ability to make decisions quickly based off of the run so far, etc. There are many musicians who do things that are borderline human. There are musicians who can perfectly control their tone as far as incremental changes in pitch, or play at incredibly fast speeds *while improvising.* (they make up what they're playing on the spot.) The difference? There have been great musicians for centuries. Speedrunning is less than 30 years old. I have no doubt that speedrunners have the same dedication to their craft that musicians have, and that they will push the boundaries of what is physically possible just as far as musicians given enough time. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that no one has used a metronome sooner. When I speedbridge in minecraft, I like using music at the same tempo.
@EnteiFire43 жыл бұрын
It's not the only game that uses a metronome in a speedrun, but it's very recent. I think there are some very precise tricks in some specific categories of Super Mario Odyssey that are super precise, and they use a metronome with some audio cues to help them time their inputs.

I play No Straight Roads, which has a 'perfect parry' mode on bosses, where you can parry pink (but they call it purple even though it is so obviously pink) obstacles for damage if you time it right, and the theme of the specific boss I was facing has their theme go at a BPM of 150. (it's also the ONLY way to damage in the mode and you have to no hit it because one hit and you lose) I figured out with that, you would have to parry on the count of 8 in time with the tempo (so basically 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, parry) But still never beat the perfect parry because the Switch version is buggy on Phase two so kept getting hit even when on time.

I asked some of the top runners if they thought Summoning Salt would make a video on any of the main categories like SLA, OoB, or Single Player, and they all seemed to agree that the progression is too boring to make into a video. I've gone through the entire Portal 2 Speed Demos Archive and it is totally not boring at all to me! There's so much cool stuff then later cool rivalries blah blah, it'd be an awesome video.

Imo "non glitch speedruns" are cooler than glitched ones, but still, respect to everyone who is able to pull these glitches off, it still takes a lot of skill
@TheeDeadCreator3 жыл бұрын
i agree, the non glitch runs that involve thinking on your feet and solving the puzzles and shooting portals super fast all while doing some sick parkour and bunny hopping looks way cooler and is more satisfying to watch than a dude just flying to the end lol

Just to say the boxes have 3 purposes . Mainly from instances. Valve maps in portal 2 have a library of entities and items used for map making which is also used for pti . The boxes is just an instance that houses mainly fog , lighting and other map values to be triggerd with logic. Same with player spanw points and map transitions and voice lines . Player spawns in and then teleported to the elivator and vice versa if there in that room ofc . The loading room thing still comes from hl2 way where it preserve your location when transitioning. Etc
