MT-07 Akrapovič Euro 4 Exhaust DB killer removal

Well lads, here's a quick break down on how to remove the baffle/DB killer in the Euro 4 Exhaust by Akrapovič for the Yamaha MT-07.

Glad yours came out so easily. Mine was an absolute nightmare. Broke the spotweld and kept pulling on it. I toon it to a guy which makes custom bikes, he took the exhaust apart and it turns out my DB-killer was stuck on the catalytic convertor. Which we had to remove aswell. Result? Fire spitting akra that’s absolutely abnoxious. 😊

Jesus man, that sounds like a disaster! There was no catalytic converter in mine, I was supposed to order it and put it in myself which I didn't... Glad you got it sorted in the end man! It really is crazy loud but addictive!

I have made my own slide hammer and it won't budge. Have even split the can and tried hitting it from the inside. I don't know what to do now. Where exactly was yrs stuck?

Just got mine out. Took 2 hours. Drilled a 6mm hole, baffle didn’t budge. Drilled a 8mm hole, didn’t budge. Sat an hour just using pliers and a metal hammer (rubber mallet didn’t work), but nothing happend. Took a break then kept going and after a while it moved slightly. After a while it just popped out when I hit it. When people say it’s difficult, they are not joking. God damn

I've ridden with the baffle removed for a couple weeks, and honestly i think baffle in is the way to go. Videos don't do it justice to how loud it is without the baffle. Can't even accelerate to 10km/h without deafening those around you. Still sounds good with the baffle in and won't piss your neighbors off.

I’ve the same exhaust on my mt07 and I left the baffle in. Sounds great under hard acceleration and it’s not too loud when your just cruising around.

Yeah I've been debating on whether or not to modify the baffle and put it back in with a few holes drilled in it but I'll see if I get any complaints without the baffle first.

Tanks for the awesome video. This is the only good one i found. There are very only few vids in english an everyone talked about these scratches but noone showed them. Im considering to buy an akra for my cbr 650 f which is basicly the same muffler and my Plan is to not to remove the dB eater completly but shorten it a bit.

Lucky Luke Rides I guess you only have to fit a screw through the muffler into the dB eater and Secure it with a nut. The problem with that is since its a euro 4 exhaust a removable eater is not allowed so it shouldnt be too obvious or to big.

Hey matte, we have exactly the same bike and Akra, I did the mod that you made and she's just gross and tall. I was also a bit surprised by the sound it makes if you put the dB-killer back in, please make a video of how you're going to do it. (I liked that it was an option that you could take and for as long as we wanted) Honestly for longer journeys I think it's not really good for us. Another sub. ;) Peace V

Sweet! So that's a full system, not just a slip-on? Looks as good as it sounds! I assume you've had it tuned for the exhaust as the sensor is there for that. You get used to the sound, but don't be surprised if you start setting off car alarms when you go by; my old Yamaha has a loud exhaust and sets them off, startled me when that started happening.

Hey man! I used a small measuring tape to measure the distance on the outside and the distance on the inside and then marked it so I knew where to drill!

Sounds amazing my dude, I have a question for ya. I've got a 2018 mt-07 and I want to remove the baffle but I've tried to remove the tip of the exhaust but there isn't enough space between the exhaust tip and the rear wheel to wriggle it loose. (Cat installed) did you experience this problem? and in the case u did, did you remove the whole system or loosen it?

I've got all my mods done now man, fender eliminator and all! :) I have my bike mapped for Full Akra and DNA air filter but I didn't specify if the dB killer was out when mapping. I'm not sure if it'll make a massive difference.

Nice man! Prepare to hear the bike come alive haha! I've had no regrets to be honest. It is VERY LOUD, I need to invest in a good pair of ear plugs. I guess it could annoy neighbours at night/early in the morning but even with the DB killer in, it'll still wake people up haha! I haven't put it back in and I don't plan on it because I just love the sound.

I've just bought a new MT-07 and im looking to upgrade the exhaust. Is there a mark amongst the scratches indicating where to drill. Also would it be possible to thread the hole and db killer so you can have it in or out with a screw like the euro 3 edition.

There's no exact mark amongst the scratches, I just measured the distance from the spot weld to the edge of the exhaust and then did the same thing on the outside to try line it up. I luckily got it first time but once you're in and around the spot weld it should break it. I'm sure it would be possible to thread the hole to make the db killer an option but I'm happy leaving it out.

You already drilled a hole into it, so why not just put a little bolt in there so it wont fall off. The bolt will be covered by the carbon shield on the outside ( i guess)

Only downside is when buying used bikes here, lads will say they've been using them daily etc. but they might've been in the back of a shed for the last 10 years but recently restored haha. Hey man, if you take it out and just put it back in, it will fall out while riding. If you really wanted to you could use a screw and use that to keep it in place. I haven't tried that though!

Did you have any issues with the actual drilling..? Tried it just now with a fresh drill bit and got nowhere. Drill bit is tungsten so maybe not strong enough...? What sort of bits did you use?

It was a slow enough process man, especially with the fact the exhaust is curved so I just used a drill hole marker to get a good starting point. If I remember correctly I used a cobalt drill bit, but I can't be 100% sure to be honest. It was a while ago that I did this, sorry man!

Yeah, I think it would be possible to thread a bolt through the baffle and the muffler to put it back in. I'm not sure how you would go about doing that though. I'm leaving mine out haha ;)

If you can see the little spot weld like you can in the video then I'd say you're still able to remove it!

@@J4mstr There's no other way to put it but you'll need some time and elbow grease. Try using a vice grips and a towel to grab the baffle, spray a bit of WD-40 around and then tap the vice grips with a rubber mallet & it should start to come out slowly but surely!

Lucky Luke Rides Man what a journey.. I ended up going to a mate who’s a metal worker. We built a custom slide hammer to expand exactly to the baffle’s diameter - took a day to make. Came out in 3 hits once it was done though!

I had to take my exhaust to a custom motorcycle shop in ypsilanti michigan to get my db killer out, they had to blow torch it then pull it out and grind the remainder of the metal off. It was fucking ridiculous. Threw it away, ear plugs. Hemi. Never will I go back.

@@LuckyLukeRides Ah makes sense, i tried to pull off the muffler but it just gets stuck on the tire. Would have to bend the pipe down to uncomfortable levels to get it off.

@@LuckyLukeRides Managed to get it out lol. Had to buy a ball bearing puller off ebay and use that for about an hour before it came out. Ripped skin off my hand but that sound is absolutely ridiculous.
