Build breakdown:
1-1/4'' 0.065 DOM tubing frame and powder coated
2018 MT-09 Engine
Renegade 800 rear suspension, diff and axles
TRX 450r front suspension, hubs and brakes
Can am Commander seat, steering components and rear brake
RZR radiator with 12'' fan
Electric reverse motor that's also used as a chain tensioner
Aluminium fuel cell that used the factory pump and fuel gauge
Aluminium air box
E-brake
Quickshifter (doesn't work in this video)
Speedohealer V4
Hydrolic Clutch
Drive by wire pedal
Adjustable seat and steering wheel
Quick release steering
720 lbs wet weight with 10 litres of gas
I built this thing to be a wheelie monster just like the MT-09, that's why everything is in the back. That was the shortest wheel base I could end up with, considering my height.

Love the engine mount and rear end configuration! Well done with the starter/reverse setup; very clean fabrication and excellent fit. Would you consider adding a firewall to block engine/chain from driver in case of failure? I say this and have not added one to my buggy 😆 I have a swing arm setup so chain is far away from driver. I had a chain come off and crack my engine case earlier this year!

Too weak of an engine especially with two people. Get a 600cc sport bike engine or 1000cc
@michaeldilger9582
@michaeldilger9582 4 жыл бұрын
250cc will probably not let you go fast. You should expect to go slower as the new vehicle is heavier with more loss than the donor vehicle. Try buying an engine from a wrecked motorcycle, or a refurbished engine. 400cc or more is what you want, anything less will be too underpowered

Are you using a starter for reverse? How does it do on rougher, low speed trails?
@MrArcticPOWER
@MrArcticPOWER Жыл бұрын
It's a 50:1 worm drive motor. It doesn't work too well if the terrain is too rough. It's just something to have when you need to turn around or back off the trailer.

Steven
@MrArcticPOWER
@MrArcticPOWER 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, both sprockets are the same size and the differential ratio is 3.6. The reverse motor/chain tensioner is made from a 180watts motor, 2 gears, a solenoid and one sprocket. The motor itself is a worm drive 50:1 motor that runs at 75 rpm. When I engage the reverse, the motor spins a gear on a shaft. That gear is pulled by the solenoid at the same time and it connects to another another gear. That last gear is welded on the same shaft as the sprocket. That sprocket starts spinning freely on the chain when I release the reverse button. This whole assembly acts as a chain tensioner and can move from side to side when I loose 4 bolts. If you pause at 2:02, you can see the motor top right, solenoid in blue, first gear between the two, second gear under the first one with the sprocket right next to it. You can see the diff, drive shaft and the driven sprocket at the bottom. I hope you understood everything.

I've heard people say that they're not strong but it depends a lot on tire size. In my case, I never broke it with 25 inch tires but I've only put 6-700 miles on it. I went with quad parts because I wanted to keep it narrow, but If it's not your case, I would go with a stronger diff and axles.
