Mt Antero - Climb to the top via the west slopes, with maps & route description

Plan to backpack Antero in mid June via Little Brows Creek as my first 14er this year. Hope snow is mostly gone by then

Who knows what this season holds. I'd say you will be pretty fortunate not to have to negotiate significant snow in mid June, but my hopes are the same, as my season was a bit sparse last year. At any rate, the other side up Antero sounds enticing.

Glad to see you back at high elevation! Quite a beast of an awesome documentary. Just out of curiosity, at that elevation, does having such a mustache generate any noticeable increase in lift? :)

Oh, wise guy I see 🤣.....well, hmmm - maybe that would be material for an experiment. What should I try next, a handle-bar perhaps?! (So many variables). It is really awesome to be back on these peaks again though. I'm glad you liked this video - even though it's pretty long. Sometimes it's hard to know what not to include.

@@CentennialTreks Just hike up 2 more times with a scale, mustache, no mustache. You could also add trials like the waxed spiral and the Wyatt Earp... Just saying... :D And be true to your gut on content. I am iffy on long road walks, but it was cool to posit whether I could get my medium clearance 2WD up there. That water crossing pretty much killed my hopes...

Well if a mustache helps, then I guess it's not surprising those 1860's & 1870's miners got to many of these mtn. tops before the survey teams. Anyway, I think the lower part of this road route might be rougher in places than the upper part - but yeah it would be tough for lower-clearance. And the road does make this longer than it would be if it was a trail, but being kind of a purist (especially in doing these videos), I feel obliged to show the whole experience on foot - although I have ascended this road by vehicle before.

Thanks for pointing this out. I haven't encountered that any of the 3 times I've been on this mtn., but surely good to consider. The couple of modest specimens I found weren't far off the main road, as I recall.
