Thanks for sharing your experience! I am glad you showed the gully and willows when you came down. Pretty muddy indeed.

Certainly - and yes, it is.

I did this hike in high school in 1996 or 97. I don't remember the wooden path through the willows. Not to say it wasn't there. Only 14er I've ever done. I believe I was 13 or 14 at the time

I'm not sure when the boardwalk was constructed, but I believe it was after that. But it was there the first time I ever did this route, sometime in the early 2000's as I recall.

Hi there, subscriber here, I enjoy and study all your videos for my hiking purposes. I was wondering...the hut in the parking lot is a bathroom?

Thank you - I appreciate that, and am glad you enjoy these, and hope they are of help to you. And yes, I'm pretty sure it is a restroom. I think those are portable restrooms next to it perhaps. This was 4 years ago though, which was the most recent time I was there. (I guess you must have seen it in the zoom clip from higher on the mountain). Anyway, later!

Thanks again!!.....That is a great choice for a 1st-time 14er for them. I would say if possible, go on a weekday, and get there as early as possible. These days that parking lot fills to capacity very quickly. And recently I heard people are getting ticketed for parking along the side of the road. Lastly, the top of Bierstadt will at least allow you to see the Saw Tooth ridge for yourself in person. Have fun!!

Another amazing climb. Are the trails easy to see ? Do you ever feel you could become disoriented or run out of daylight?

1) Generally, the more trafficked the route, the more definite and visible the trail is. But it is also the case that the rockier the path, the easier it is to lose. 2) The potential of getting lost should be a motivating factor to thoroughly study the maps, route descriptions, weather reports and route condition reports beforehand, and to bring maps along, as well as orienting devices such as a compass, GPS, etc. 3) It is always advisable to start quite early on these high mtn. climbs, particularly because of the regular early afternoon storms that occur, but you also of course want to get back before dark. Starting early enough should give you ample time.
