Hi Ervinslens, thank you for your compliment. My camera's take care of a lot of the work also, but I'm still trying to improve things. Thanks for watching!

Such a beautiful outdoor experience and stunning views. It's always hard to start in the dark, but being alone and the first on the trail is worth more than a decent long sleep ;)

Hi Mario, it was beautiful, despite the fire damage on much of the hike. I definitely like to start early, and it is nice to beat the crowds on certain hikes and have it to yourself for awhile anyway. Thanks for watching!

I like it up there it's really nice especially all of the pine trees on top, I bet it's a nice drive to the top too

Hi Rain, yes it's really nice on the summit, and there are some good viewpoints along the trails up there. I'd like to take my family on the drive up there someday.

Oh yeah for me I want my family to go up there too my dad drove up there before and he said it's nice, and every time I go to Tucson I always look at that mountain

@@rainethelbah522 thank you very much, I appreciate it! I hope to get some more hikes in within the next few weeks. I also started a new channel too, for training and nutrition for hiking. I've been meaning to do a video on this channel introducing it, but here it is: kzbin.info/door/G_PamKPN3klsHEq1pCcurg

Well done! Crazy that you guys did it all in just a day. Greetings from a fellow Tucsonan.

Hi jmdazsol, thank you and thanks for watching. It wasn't pretty but we made it. I actually live in Apache Junction but I can see Mt. Lemmon from my backyard. I think it's about 60 or 70 miles away.
@jmdazsol Жыл бұрын
Wow, I didn't realize you had a clear line-of-sight of it all the way from AJ. 9100+ feet no doubt also helps. Enjoying your videos.
@ZacharyTeich-HikingTrainer Жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as it isn't too hazy or cloudy it's visible. You can see it from north Scottsdale and probably even further up that way since it's just flatter, lower, open desert all the way from here to there. Thank you for watching!
@alexjacobs61462 жыл бұрын
That was really cool, and you did a really good job getting to the top. I know I wouldn't be able to do 26 miles and 7000 ft. elevation gain without struggling. If you're into hiking long trails, I suggest you one day hike Eagle Cap in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. I also recently hiked Wheeler Peak in Nevada, which is challenging, but I think you might enjoy it. Great video, keep it up!
@ZacharyTeich-HikingTrainer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thank you, and at least we made it, although it was pretty slow. I've looked at Wheeler Peak a little, and I'll have to look up the other one. I may be heading out of AZ for a few days in August but I'm not sure yet. I have one long distance challenge really close to home that I might do in September. I hope you had fun on Wheeler. Thanks, and thanks for watching!

Nice hike. I’ve done that hike a few times from top down.

Hi Mountain Guy, it's neat to transition from the desert to the forest higher up, or vice versa. It's good they were able to save the upper forest from the fire.

@@ZacharyTeich-HikingTrainer Yeah. I was glad to see the big trees at the top. That Bighorn fire was bad in 2000. Nice vid. 👍👍

Nice one, guys!! We live in Oro valley and have been to the Catalina Park many times, on little walks, this was a cool one, we've driven up to the spot where you ended up too, on Mt. Lemmon. Interesting peak named after a woman naturalist in the late 1800's to early 1900's, mostly botanizing up there, must have been tough hiking then!! A military facility I think you saw at the end, and also an observatory from the University is here. They track dangerous asteroids as one duty. Nice drive up there, with a P.L. and trails near where you saw all the folks enjoying cooler weather in summer, near Summer Haven. BTW, they have a nice little hotel up there now, dozen little cabins for rent, check it out folks. Too bad about the fire damage, did not need to be so, the agencies dilly dallied and dicked around and let it get out of control, for two days, and the wind came up and grounded their air resources. Evacuated many folks from their million-dollar homes, scaring the shit out of them. Firemen are not all ways your friend, but they are the first to pat themselves on the back when they finally got it out. Forest service is the worst, they suppress locals and don't let them act on their own to put out a fire that would take hours instead of weeks as this one did not to mention the damage they did. And worse, no "heads rolled" on this one and they should have!! Enough rant on the fire but it bugs me, since each year it seems they beg for more tax money to support their operations, then drop the ball big time when they have an opportunity to show what we pay for. Your hike was very impressive, especially with the guy with the bandaged knee. I did many back packs into northern cascades of Siskiyou County in CA years ago, some along the PCT, mainly to go fishing and just for the fun of it, usually two of us like here. Did a few trips with mules, in the Sierra, near Bishop, mainly with paint buddies to go capture the beauty of the mountains in oil paint for a week. Lots of fun, but hard work, like you showed here. Good luck in future adventures. : )

Hi Ron, thanks for the information about Mt. Lemmon. That's too bad about the fire. You've definitely done more backpacking than us. We do everything in one day. My brother, Patrick, was having some cramps in his quad muscle right above the knee, so he wrapped it and continued on. I probably would've turned around. He has driven up to the summit before, with my parents, but I haven't. I want to take my family someday, and maybe we'll get to it this summer.

@@ZacharyTeich-HikingTrainer Good luck and have fun up there, it will be cool. At Summer Haven the road splits to the right, go up it, passed the ski area, winding up to a parking lot for about 20 cars and pick nick area, and trails leading off to the area you guys hiked to, nice views, forever, as you saw!!

Hi One Man's Odyssey, thank you and thanks for watching. We got it done, but it wasn't quite as fast as we would've liked. I guess we both know how to rely on the memory of being in better shape! The scenery definitely helps though, and it was a good temperature for 3/4 of the hike too.

Y’all are animals. What were the temps like?
@ZacharyTeich-HikingTrainer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Will, no we're just two human beings who often get too lazy, don't train enough, sleep enough, or prepare enough, just like many of our fellow human beings. Maybe this has motivated Patrick to start working out again. I know I need to get back into shape, and maybe it will finally happen this summer. It was in the 50's or low 60's when we started and probably stayed around there all the way to the summit. It started to heat up more, and we descended, and I think it was around 95 when we finished at the bottom.

Sutherland Trail is nice, no fee.

Hello, we thought about taking that trail at least one of the ways, but we would still have to pay if we parked at Catalina State Park. I think we could've accessed it from the north for free, but the park was easier.
