Mt Shasta Climb | Lake Helen Camp Experience

Mount Shasta in all its Glory! What a Peak!! We did this snow climb on June 27th 2024 thru June 29th 2024, spending two Nights camped at Lake Helen. But there isnt a Lake, its a snow field. Haha.
CONDITIONS UPDATE: Shortly above Horse Camp, the snow begins. Cramp-ons and Ice Axe recommended to reach Lake Helen. Above Lake Helen, that equipment is mandatory! About 5,000+ vertical of the 7,000+ vertical route is still snow covered. Consistency of snow NOT great for skiing, but ok for snow climb. Its consolidated. Slushy in the Afternoons. The snow is no longer bullet hard at Night so a very early start is the way to go.
My partner Andriy brought some very useful winter camping gear and emergency communications devices, avalanche beacons, etc. Not sure I would have summited without his assistance and moral support. I am super thankful to have a great climbing partner!
Only N. Palisade, Sill and Mt. Russel and i will have completed the CA 14ers.

Extreme temperature differential! Plus, I didn't bring a winter sleeping bag and I'll never do that again when headed to camp on a snowfield! Haha. You Live and You Learn. Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the Video!

Damn, you guys kicked ass. Major thumbs up for the video and the accomplishment. Thanks a lot for sharing a super-inspiring video. Love the upbeat and grateful attitude all the way. First time seeing one of your videos, but now i will check out others. One question: did you guys leave your tent and any other gear at your base camp to lessen your load for the hike to the summit, or haul everything up to the top? I'm wondering what your reasoning was in either case. Thanks again for sharing the experience.

@@wm-zc8pk - Thanks for checking out the video! We had most gear left at the Lake Helen Camp. The BIG packs we are hauling to the summit were deceiving and fairly empty! Happy Trails 👣🗻🤙
