What a great video! Thanks for sharing. What date were you here? We’re heading up in October and trying to gauge how fast the snow is lasting up there. Looks like you didn’t need crampons or do you think you would have added any gear you didn’t bring?

Thanks for checking out the video Man! This was late July 23 following the record breaking snowfalls. I brought yack tracks and trekking poles and felt it was sufficient. Rockfall potential in Shepherds Pass so a helmut may be wise, but that approach hike is so long and epic. I felt the need to cut corners and save on weight so i didnt bring one. I would hope that by October all snow in Shepherds Pass would be avoidable for you Guys. I will be posting some videos of climbs coming up in September so those will give you a better picture of remaining snow. Its been a crazy season!!!

Shepherds Pass trail is brutal. The time I was up there we did Williamson, and I've always wanted to go back and do Tyndall. It's beautiful up there, and very few people bother to even try. Congrats!

Thanks Man! Yeah, Shepherds Pass is a beat down! I went up there 1st time May 2022 for Mt. Williamson. Had hopes to also get Tyndall but i was too fatigued. Descended the pass Solo at Night. It was Epic. Came back in 2023 for Tyndall. Thought about it that whole time. Felt so good to get it! What a Beautiful Peak 🏔👣

I did Shepherds Pass years ago as a way to come to Mt. Whitney from the west. What a nightmare that pass was. The top 500 - 600 ft of elevation gain to the top was a scramble up a loose scree slope as the trail was non-existent.

@@garyleibitzke4166 that sounds EPIC!!! Yeah, so much snow lingering this Year Fall 2023 that a Guy fell down the snowfield and had to get airlifted out. I bet its even harder when its dry and just scree! Probably taking two steps up, sliding back a step. Repeat. Sufferfest!
