Mt. Washington Auto Road to the Sky

They said it couldn’t be done-until they did it: built a road clear up to the summit of the highest mountain in Northeast.
It began in the 1850s with gravel, black powder and stress and strain. Horses and carriages managed to scrabble their way to the top by 1861.
Then along came the automobile, and the rest is history.

Oh the memories unbearably dear of my beloved wife and me upon this mountain . Memory is indeed the only paradise from which no one can be turned away. you would think this video would have millions of views and long lyrical comments of the most poetic kind but the masses of our countrymen prefer to continue aimlessly shopping in crowded malls or to lose themselves in the meaningless abyss of endless emails. Even two hundred years ago Wordsworth complained and sorrowed saying The world is too much with us... Despite the obvious meltdown of the world around us, all the wars, the immorality, the climate changes, the still terrifying plague, the foaming seething atheism, videos like yours assure us God's good earth is still good and for this you have my endless thanks.

Highest mountain in the Northeast Mount Washington at 6,288 feet, Presidential Range of the Appalachians. Highest mountain east of the Mississippi is Mount Mitchell at 6,684 feet, in the Black Mountain subrange of the Appalachians of North Carolina
