Finally ! The surface radio world 's gonna change. But pity the wheel travel stays +/-30degree like all other radios from the old days.. Wish travel angle can change one day. We need sth like real car's steering wheel, unnecessarily to be like 900 degree, but at least +/-90degree, allowing for precise control and maneuverability. Keep up good job, RadioMaster RC !!

i wonder if that hall sensor actually has the ability to read that far, considering its probably the same type used in their flight radios, but if it is, should be pretty easy to modify and calibrate in EdgeTX

Is this just aimed at the FPV market because all the reviews I've seen have only been on FPV channels, not regular car RC channels? The open source aspect appeals to me but I would really have liked to see this being tested and reviewed by RC racers in 1/8 and 1/10 onroad and off-road racing before I commit to it.

Radiomaster, ExpressLRS and EdgeTX all started with multirotors and fixed wings and a lot of FPV multirotor people love Radiomaster gear- so we are probably the first to notice when Radiomaster comes out with a new product.

@@SpiroHarvey ah gotcha. Yeah that's a bit confusing. Perhaps they just didn't know who to reach out to yet since this is their 1st foray in RC cars/crawlers/watercraft. They sponsor FPV racers and whatnot so quadcopters & fixed wings are likely the easiest to send to. Plus, as far as I can tell, there isn't really as much of an open source scene in RC vehicles. I've thought of getting into RC crawlers but it's a bit different situation. Quadcopters started from a different point in time and were built from the ground up with parts from other RC hobbies but then also needed a brain- being the flight controller- to manage more variables when operating an aircraft. Features such as autonomous navigation, return-to-home, lost drone buzzers, gps/barometer/compass usage, on-screen-display configuration, and configuration & tuning of flight characteristics. These flight controllers have been mostly brand agnostic so all big multirotor manufacturers (aside from your DJI) need to support the same, shared, operating system/firmware which other manufacturers use for anyone to have any interest in using their parts or buy their quads. If you buy a Traxxas truck, you probably buy a Traxxas controller, and the limits of configuration are probably what you want the radio buttons to control and I guess the motor/ESC tuning. When we're talking about ExpressLRS for the radio's firmware, ExpressLRS for the radio signal's protocol, you've perked the ears of a quadcopter developer to wonder if they can put a brain in a rock crawler too and not just rely on the brain Traxxas develops and is closed source. WIth a radio that programmers like to use, programmers who make flight controller software for quadcopters may want to experiment with making them for vehicles. Pretend you could tune your RC crawler as much as you could a ricer. Someone could add anti-lock brakes, traction control, or other features to a low-cost vehicle that would normally not have them. In short, they will probably get more of a software & hardware tinkerer than just a hardware tinkerer. I wouldn't think it would be beneficial to hand out radios to RC car influencers unless RC cars have a reason to have yet another brand of remote. This remote is best if the vehicle has a brain and that brain is programmable by the consumer as well.

@@jawz101_fpv7 Very good info, thank you. In the RC car racing scene radios and ESCs are getting more into being programmable now. Many of the brands offer programming cables and apps that you can modify ESCs and even motor timing remotely, as well as telemetry being streamed to a phone or computer, so it's happening and something like this would definitely be welcomed. Traxxas aren't really a good example of the RC car landscape because they're just prebuilt "bashers" and not really aimed at racers. Plus their systems are all completely proprietary, so you buy into their ecosystem. This is sort of common in the ready-to-run cars, but the kits designed for racing are just the vehicles and all electronics (or nitro motors) are all bought separately and from many different brands. I figured RadioMaster just didn't have relationships with the surface world content creators, but it'd be good to hear from RM about it and what their plans are. Many rc car content creators would have been open to this if approached, so hopefully RadioMaster will consider that next time or after these have been released.

I imagine Radiomaster saw the potential for demand... but probably doesn't know where the primary audiences for each vehicle platform to know with whom to develop those reviewer relationships. If a reviewer for an RC hobby with which Radiomaster clearly does not have existing relationships proactively reached out to Radiomaster, it would expedite the process.

4-in-1 describes the multiprotocol module, that has 4 different processing chips in it to handle different types of protocols. you don't really need to know how, as it automatically uses whatever chip is needed for the selected protocol. but 4-in-1 MPMs are some of the best, its very likely that every model you own will be compatible. they are more expensive than 1, 2 or 3 chip MPMs, but the peace of mind is often worth it.

What a cool radio - I did already preorder one. But what bad review videos. I guess I watched all videos released today about this radio - and all from drone/plane/FPV guys, all with ELRS, none showed multi, not one word with which trucks (e.g. micros RtR) it works. Reviewers were asking their audience what to do with so many channels in a car? One reviewer put throttle in CH1 and steering in CH2, what no car radio I know can do. This was ridiculous. Why didn't you send this awesome radio to some reviewers who have at least a bit of knowledge in cars? Tomley, Talbot, or or or... I wasted more than 2 hrs of time now seeing guys driving their car FPV. This radio will not be super successful because of FPV and long range (who can use this in a car? And drones and planes are much more fun for FPV), it will be super successful because/if it binds to all or a lot of the super popular RtR cars on the market, WLToys, Axial, Traxxas, FMS, Hobby Plus, etc. etc. - and therefore you'll need the 4-in-1 (which I ordered). I do already have a Radiomaster Zorro, but only as spare for my good old Spektrum DX9 Black (for my helis and planes), so did not check with which of those RtR trucks it could bind. AFHDS 2 Flysky, AFHDS I know, hope AFHDS 3, ANT, the WLToys and SCX24 and FCX24 etc... Sorry, quite upset. Such an awesome radio, and so many so bad review.

@@fpvDRE It has multi-protocol, that is THE thing - and if it should one day work with all or most of the RtR trucks on the market, the micros (WLToys, SCX24, TRX-4M, Hobby Plus, FMS, ...) this radio will be a burner and super popular.

@@old-rcplane-phart Bad reviews is meant in that way: "Nothing for car guys" (what trucks do they bind with) - only for FPV guys. But if the multiprotocoll will bind with RtR cars and trucks, mainly in the micro-section, it will be super popular.

I hear you and I agree. All of the reviews are for the ELRS version. My guess is that it was the only version sent out. I too have a bunch of RTRs...F*S, Ax!@L, TR@##@S, Flysky, WLT@YS..and so on. I am looking at this for the 4in1 to move all of my cars and boats to this one tx. HOWEVER, as an experiment, I tried binding the F*M, Ax!@L, and TR@##@S cars to my TX16S and did not have any luck with any of them. When the proper reviewers, i.e. car guys, get their hands on the 4in1 version, hopefully they can clue us in on how to bind and set them up the RTRs. It will be a great upgrade if it will bind to the RTRs.
