Here we have a compilation video focusing on the 1999 New Flyer D60HF Articulated buses when they were running in Queens under JFK depot on the Q7, Q10, and Q52 bus routes. This video showcases the buses running in Queens before the arrival of the 2002-2003 New Flyer D60HF Units.
Well, it makes sense to give a bit of information about this. These buses were originally retired and put to storage in late 2012 thanks to the arrival of the 2011-2013 Nova Bus LFS Articulated Units and the 2012-2013 New Flyer XD60 Xcelsior Articulated units in Manhattan & The Bronx. After the events of Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, some units were brought back from retirement to supplement the Q52 line in The Rockaways before making their way to the Q7 and Q10 routes in the Spring of 2013.
Fun fact, some of the 1999 units were briefly in service at Baisley Park in 2007.
Some New Flyer D60HF units were renumbered in the process so they didn't conflict with the numbering of the Nova Bus LFS Articulated units, with buses being renumbered to 1001-1009, 1011-1027. However, some units did not receive a new number which were 5392, 5400, 5410, 5415, 5416, 5418, 5423, 5464, 5471, 5485, & 5491. Some units that were renumbered in 2012 like 4705 & 4708 were brought back as well. However, due to poor performance, these older units were sent to Manhattan and The Bronx earlier this year in exchange for the younger 2002-2003 New Flyer D60HF units since the Q10 was being converted into an articulated line 24/7. It was a good choice to send the older units back, but it was still fun seeing these bad boys do something outside of Manhattan and The Bronx, and this video looks back on those times. I hope you enjoyed this compilation video!
