I'm visiting for a few days... any guides in the area who can take us there, and we will need to rent bikes

I'm a visitor up there as well. I brought my bike, so I don't know about bike rental. There should be rentals available, but I don't know. There are a lot of trails on that mountain and some of them are double black diamonds, if not triples. If you don't know the trails, you could end up half way down something you can't finish... in a pickle. Definitely recommend a guide. I've been there twice, both times we met someone on the trail that was happy to show us around. Have fun, the trails there are awesome!

That helps but how did you get from parking over to Empire and Smith, I can't see a road or trail through. Did trailforks work on the trail? @@mtbaction4k

Unfortunately, almost all of the trails do not show up on TrailForks. The locals are very sensitive about THEIR trails and keep them secret. I can't send you a link to my ride on TrailForks, as it is blocked. We exited the parking off of highway 9 to the left and caught a single track into the forest on the right side of the road (Rincon Connector Trail) and followed it up generally in a leftish direction to a right turn on U-Con Trail and climbed up to the top. From there we ran into Sam and he led the way, I was just in follow mode. Sorry, that's the best I can do. You can try the Heat Map mode in TrailForks for some guidance. But the best thing is to find someone (a local) to show you around.
