I think these flamboyant classic colors are becoming popular again. Big bmx is hot too.

Before even watching this whole video, I have to show some appreciation for putting an older bike to use rather than the landfill. I’m sure whatever you did will be super cool to me, but I love that there is a small niche of people giving these bikes new life

Any pictures. Im debating on doing it to a 2002 rockhopper. But also thinking 24" tires.

@scotth1362 All kinds of pictures. Both when it was olive green and black to now black with raw steel bars. Don't debate dude, just do it. So satisfying riding something you built yourself and transform it from a mtb to a bmx cruiser.

Every detail addressed. Great job. Too much rainbow is never enough to steal a quote from MTV.

Greetings from the UK. When you brought the bike out in it's original state, I thought it was a shame to change it to a BMX cruiser, but honestly that new colour scheme is wonderful, I really like it. The iridescent components really add to the bike, and the BMX mods work well, although I would probably fit a rigid a fork. Great video. 👍

Thank you! Good news is that it could always be changed back to a mountain bike but with a new paint job.
@kelalamusic92583 ай бұрын
What a great build. Not too far over the top for me. So many new bikes today I can sum up in one word. drab! No idea why so many like drab colors like grey, for example. Paint them with more bling. I especially like the chrome seat tube, handlebars, etc. nowadays they paint it with thin coated black paint that scratches terribly. Great video. Fun to watch.

To tighten the chain, grab a round file and extend your dropouts on the frame. Worked great on my Kona one speed transition. Nice bike ! I just found a Fisher Paragon, 1990, my first Fisher. Love it already.

Really cool. I am working on my BMX Cruiser I made out of a GT Triple Triangle, it was also too small for a comfortable mountain bike.
@johnsheetz66393 ай бұрын
I'm not exactly sure why, the most 90s mountain bikes that are still left have tiny frames. I go to marketplace a lot because I'm a collector then you'll see nice 90s Gary Fisher's,specialized, Giants and treks, for 50 or 100 bucks in great shape but the very large majority is like a 17-inch frame being 6ft2 what kind of sucks because those bikes are kinda my jam!

@@johnsheetz6639 Being 5'7" those 17s are right in my wheelhouse. I bought and sold an 96 18"GT that was mint. Made $80 in 1 day. just a hare to big for my reach.

@@johnsheetz6639I notice this the same here in Germany. Why did people buy so many small frames? Have people been smaller overall 30 years ago?

Your work speaks for itself, the frame looks amazing, all the bits tie in nicely, i like the shade of blue that the frame is in & would've considered doing the tires & saddle in that tone if available but wouldn't have popped like it does now, i love BMX cruisers especially after the Dyno Pure Fun 26 that i had, that said I'll say you always bring it!

My thoughts: Ditch the bouncy fork for a legit rigid fork; I would also have used a lower/wider cruiser style handlebar (VO Klunker?); And I would have considered using an eccentric bottom bracket to avoid using the tensioner (but those BB's can be quite pricey!).

OK wow. When I saw you painting it I thought "where on Earth is this going?" Kudos Sir, great thinking and you're way more precise with a rattlecan than me. You even re-used the orphaned canti cable stop on the bridge of that fork... that bothered me in the "before" version more than the chipping paint! The only thing I'm not sure of, is that dual brake lever... because "way back when", I used to ride my BMX downhill onto a gravel road, then lock up the rear wheel for a sustained turn... I don't know how my tires didn't fall apart every week. And I only broke my hand once! Anyway -- that wouldn't be possible with that brake lever -- which today, my 46-year-old brain finds perfectly reasonable, but I know 8-year-old me would be infuriated by it.

There are cheap 26er BMX rigid forks out there to make this build more BMX-y and as for the oilslick and pink color, I don't think you went over the top since BMXs are supposed to be flashy and shiny like SE bikes IMO. you can also add up fork and frame pads for extra Rad look. That said lovin the build still 💯
