What is the Pauper format? Pauper is a format which only uses common cards. With the exception of a small banlist, any card that has been printed at the common rarity level in a set or product.
Other than that, Pauper is like most other games of constructed Magic: Decks must consist of a minimum of 60 cards with an optional 15 card sideboard, and so forth.

One suggestion I have is to replace the three basic Forests in the land base with three Tree of Tales. The Tree still comes in untapped and still taps for green, but it is an artifact as well as a land. This means that when you Crop Rotation it away with a Fangren Marauder on the board, you'll gain 5 life.

+erik19borgnia You could be like me and have Tron comming out your wazoo... I got on the tron train just before 8th edition as a casual. I own at least 1 copy of every version of Urza's Mine Tower and Power plant ever printed in NON FOIL excluding 9th edition. The foils are BONKERS and I haven't encountered them at a price point I would be able to pick up. I should see which ones I have more than one of and release them into the wild to help people like you. and by that I mean at a good price and by More than one of I mean ones where I have extra above and beyond 1 that are not Black boarder. I have an Extra BB Powerplant (Bug) that I need to find someone to trade for an extra of either Mine (Mouth) Tower (Lake) or Tower (Plains) in Black Boarder I also have 2 Extra Tower (Plains) from Cronicals and one extra Powerplant (Rock in Pot) from chronicles.

+Ben Holmes Well $60 for an Eternal Format deck is actually pretty sweet (though there are much cheaper options out there) Especially when you consider that money is not even enough to buy half of one staple card in other formats, let alone a playset, or a whole deck

Pauper seems like its a fun & interesting format! I've been meaning to give it a try and build something for MONTHS but always ended up putting it to the side because there's not a big enough Pauper community at my LGS(s) I go to...BUT I AM going to finish building a similar build to this one soon though lol.

Hey prof. 7 years later and I still have my pauper tron I built from this video. I built it before I joined the army, and years later I have modified it to stay legal. It dosent put up great results at my locals but I just love tron. I have replaced auroks herd with self assembler because it costs one less and dosent require the green pip. I can play it turn 3. And with a mind stone replacing my prophetic prism I’m playing crusher on turn 3 as well

Hey, Professor, thoughts on Pauper Infect? I find that the reprint of Thrumming Bird in MM2 as a common makes the deck insanely fun, then again, there is nothing more beautiful than watching your opponent take one from the Bird and then die because they didn't read/didn't keep an eye on their infect count.

this deck freaking stomps! its a lot of fun to pilot as well...took me just a few matches to get the hang of it. from the first 20+ games i've played on it (18-6 so far), the only card that seems to beat this deck is delver of secrets when you dont draw any removal (or if they somehow get multiple large flyers out and you are flooded, etc). otherwise, even if you start slow this deck seems to have crazy comeback capabilities (getting over 20 health from 1 will really mess w/that burn player you are up against).

professor you should make a deck tech for pauper reanimator, the reason I say is because in this video you talk about how to pauper tron and modern tron share alot of cards well the same goes for my favorite deck in all of magic which is legacy reanimator and pauper reanimator, lotus petal, exhume, careful study, ponder, brainstorm daze and a couple other cards used in legacy reanimator are all common. I just think that would be a very cool deck tech

Hi Professor! Any chance you can do a video (or mayhaps you already have) on pauper EDH? It's one of my favorite formats and I'd love for more people to get into it! In case someone reading this is unfamiliar with pEDH, it's a mashing of pauper and EDH. You can have any uncommon creature as your commander (e.g. shriekmaw, invisible stalker, and sigil captain). Decks are construcred only from cards printed (or on MTGO) as commons and otherwise it is the same as EDH (i.e. singleton, color identity restriction, etc). You can play with EDH life rules (40 starting, 20 commander damage), but most people drop it a bit due to the lower power level of commons (I like 30 starting life and 18 commander damage).

I have a hard time seeing myself not using a crop rotation in any pauper green deck. I use it in a bant control deck as a way to get effects from etb lands or to get karoos and replaying an etb land. Hopefully it don't go the way of cloud of faeries.

umm fierce empath is not a tutor on a stick. when magic players say things are "on a stick" they mean they can activate it while it is on the field. like you can sacrifice nevinnyrral's disk while it is on the field. it is a board wipe on a stick. sorry, just a clarification professor.

I love tron, I love pauper, But But But... I want to play Blue. Professor, What do you think about Modern Pauper? I have a pauper deck I built but I followed both the Pauper restrictions and the Modern Restrictions in that I only used cards legal in both Pauper and Modern. (I made Delver/Kiln Fiend) Its pretty great, I play with a lot of casuals, and no one has super expensive modern/standard decks that I play regularly with so I don't even mind taking it up against thier rare filled casual decks.

Cost of this deck is only going up. A play set of all three of the Urza lands is about $30 online, let alone the rest of the deck. MTG Goldfish put the total at 60 TX. Meanwhile the Dredge Deck or a white weenie deck is only 5-6TX.

Awesome video Professor, but I and many others obviously feel like the titles to these budget deck tech videos are misleading. $10 deck sure, but not in paper. An easier way to make it clear on what's what might be to label it as "$60/8T", as it's very frustrating to think I may be able to afford the deck to play with my friends but then I find that the deck is far more expensive when ACTUALLY converted to the price for paper.

Wow the prices have gone threw the roof on a few cards crop rotation and moment's peace are more then 2 tickets per card a total of 22 tickets for the 8 cards alone.
