oh wow, great match! I never thought of the synergy between Maul Splicer and Maelstrom Colossus! And that Fangreen Marauder just puts Affinity on check! I have to admit, I did scream at Thoralf for not attacking and just passing, but that's because I never thought Affinity could just, draw itself out of their deck.

At @28:50, why did two of Thoralf's golems die? They all have first strike and are 3/3s, so would have applied 6 damage to the enforcer and angler before they had a chance to attack them back.

They have trample (from the Maul Splicer that created them), not first strike. The guys were talking about first strike as a joke, indeed specifically mentioning the card Blade Splicer, the white member of the Splicer cycle that makes a 3/3 golem and gives all golems first strike.

Some cards get shifted from one rarity to another when printed in new sets. As long as something was once printed at common, it's pauper legal :)

3 of the 4 lands he has are the tron land, they have an ability where if you control all three, power plant and mine tap for 2 and tower taps for 3 totalling 7 mana between them + 1 extra from his other land to get a turn 3 8 drop

From the rules: "111.7 A token that’s in a zone other than the battlefield ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.). " They go to the graveyard then as a state-based action they cease to exist, it does trigger the marauder.

He had 2 cards left in the deck, which means 2 draw steps, the other guy had a repeatable effect that would've made all of his creatures do 0 damage for 2 turns and in magic when your library is empty and you go to draw a card you lose the game, so he just conceded because it was impossible to win.
