MTG 7th vs 8th Edition: Hype, Price Swings, & Unconsidered Things! 8th Edition is Special Too!

Recently there has been a ton a hype around 7th edition foils in the Magic card market. What about 8th edition? Why does 7th Edition get so much love while 8th sits in the corner all jealous? Let's explore this dynamic and see if we're overlooking some things.

Not gonna lie, I definitely was one of those haters when 8th Edition came out, as you well remember. And I still hate it, but I think you’re onto something.

Yeah I kinda was too. I still favor the original template for MTG cards above all else. Oddly though I do like the new extended arts and other flashy designs, but overall nothing beats the OG frame. It feels genuinely fantasy themed vs the more "modern" looking frame.

@@collectorsimpact i agree. I really love those recent Innistrad lands. I actually went and bought like 150 for my decks. They remind me of the "Scary stories to watch in the dark" artwork.

@@blainechappell5383 Yeah they've hit a lot of home runs on the basic lands recently. I love the Kamigawa lands, they're some of my favorite to come out in years. Bought a bunch of those too.
