Just discovered your channel. Good rant! btw - canadian highlander allows p9 (just not all at once)

Thank you, really appreciate it! Ah, I'll have to look into Canadian highlander.

Make no mistake, its not half greed. Its 100% greed.

Fake cards. wotc needs EOY revenues to please their shareholders. Have fun giving them all your money.

You buy into this, you are telling them they can screw you however they want. STAY AWAY.

wotc obviously doesn't care about litigation because if they did they would've licensed all the art to be used prior to announcing this product...this is 100% greed coming from Chris Cox/Hasbro. ANYONE playing with these deserves to be shunned and mocked and shamed for giving into this level of greed and predatory practice.

I think it's short steps wizards are making to slowly abolish the reserved list (I speculate they realized it would be even more profitable to allow the community to have the chance to play magic at its full, via the power nine, than not doing so)

I'd rather buy a Duel Masters Black Lotus as a proxy as it is at least playable in another game than this. Also it's $25. If this was a draftable UnSet that would be cool!

Fully agree 👍

This is just bad and if wizards continue it will kill the game

Been thinking on it a lot too, and sadly, I think you could be right.

Yet anther terrible idea by WotC Hasbro or whatever those idiiots call themselves these days. I may have taken a slight hiatus from MTG for almost a year in the late 1990s, but then once Hasbro stepped in I took multiple years away, not caring much for it until the mid to late 2000s. But in the last 15 years even though some of the character stories have been bigger than ever and really appealing, more than half of releases in that time have been unappealing say the least, and practices by the company have been really offputting. BUt this tears it. I have seen sets that literally had offensive material in them, but by WotC practically reprinting the power 9 and other served list cards...they are quite literally going bak on their word about the reserved list. IT wouldnt surprise me of many peoples collections of og cards and slabbed cardboard plummeted in value, but I am really REALLY hoping this does not hurt the franchise overall. Its a small hope, but...FFS what has happened to MTG? T

Yeah I'm on the fence with how the overall health of the MTG brand is going to fair over the next several years with these kinds of moves wizards is making. The secondary market stability is vital to the overall health of the game. Utimately though, if the game itself doesn't break (from a playability perspective) then it could survive all of the turbulence. Wizards need to listen to the fans and correct some of their behaviors.

My play group sees this reprint as worthless proxies equivalent to buying power 9 from a third party proxy service. With any luck the market will reject it and reserve list will hold its value. My play group are casual collectors and all think this set is silly. Anything its made us consider allowing 3rd party cards in edh but mostly the reason we only allowed real cards was to keep the power level of are edh games to an acceptable level.

I loved dropping a lotus on the table. You make a great point. Those days when you and me would be racing to drop our combos with power all over the table
@collectorsimpact2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, those experiences should be shared with the younger generation. Wizards dropped the ball big time with this product.

@@collectorsimpact I had the power nine back in the day and dropping dual land couple moxes lotus and wheel makes your opponent just wanna quit. Not really fair but still fun to do.

How do you think these will perform in the market? Do you plan to buy any of these packs/boxes?
@screwthenet2 жыл бұрын
WOnt be able to afford a single one. I couldnt even buy any of the Wrahammer 40k sets I had been looking forward to for 3 years because they were sold out so fast and hard to find. Which is what I am afraid will happen with the Lor od The Rings set I have been waiting or these past 3 years as well. Just feels like a betrayal, which though unsurprising is sitll disappointing and just more proof that the world is living in the corrupt megacorporation age that was forwarned about decades ago. Its not even the 3th anniversary yet, not untill 2023. *shrugs *T

@@screwthenet Yep, I completely get what you're saying. I wasn't able to pick up a single collector box of Dominaria United yet (among other things too) because they just keep releasing more and more products and I have no funds left. I'm slowing down a lot on scrambling to buy their products for the time being. Like you said, their greed and modern megacorp ways are really not cool.

I like it. I’m not going to buy it, but more power to those that do. Not every wotc/magic product is designed for everyone

Just a reminder, they already reprinted the Black Lotus in Duel Masters earlier this year. If people don't care about the card back, a WotC Black Lotus token card can be bought right now for around $20.

You have to understand, money is not just found in the usa. Chynese have money too. Nothing wrong with wotc maximizing what they own
@screwthenet2 жыл бұрын
They have been selling cards in other languages and countries for a long time, since the 1990s. ITs not about maximixing though. WoTC is going beyond what should have been done, and they have gone back on their word about the reserved list. Its hard to tell if it will be good or bad for all MTG collectors and the company in the long run, but one would think that the value of older cards migt be hurt. But whom knows, maybe the value wil go up because people will say "No, the older versions are the real versions and thus worth the most". But that is me being unrealistically hopeful. However still, I hope this move by the company does not cause harm to the CCG world overall. Ciao ^~^
