i've been free to play on arena for some time now and i think being free to play is the only way to truly see exactly how this game cheats you. i only play control but it honestly doesnt even matter what you play because the game knows how to force wins and losses regardless of what kind of deck you're playing. theres no other explanation for why as soon as i start playing a mill deck i start seeing 200+ card decks suspiciously often. aggro is apparently sooo common so many people are playing mono red and boros right? well as soon as i switch to a deck with a bunch of life gain those aggro decks magically disappear lol. the number of times when i'm playing black with a bunch of removal and get matched with artifact decks where they curve out perfectly but all i can draw is lands and go for the throats is also absurdly high. these are clearly forced losses. too many wildly convenient things happen in the games that you lose OR WIN, and theres always so many things working against you when these losses happen. the opponent always curves out perfectly with constant pressure and value while you're fighting for your life on the backfoot with some kind of mana base issue or dead card issue. its the same for the games you win too. it's maybe 1 game in 30 where i'll truly feel like both players got everything and had important decisions to make throughout the game, like you regularly see in paper. otherwise it's just one-sided wallops where it's clear that either i or my opponent had perfect hands and conveniently always had or drew the perfect thing to counter opposing threats. yall ever wonder why it feels like you always see either 2 mana or 4 mana hands? and how it always seems like when you start with 2 lands, you get screwed for the game and when you start with 4 you get flooded for the game? if you're free to play, start counting the number of times your first draw is a land when you're on the draw with 4 lands in your starting hand. it seriously happens all the time. i've called it more times than i can count and you will too if you start looking for it. one more example are times where im playing azorius control and start the game with 2 wandering emperors in my hand and no other removal, and the opponent curves into back to back topiary stompers with 2 cavern of souls (dinosaur, angel) and curves into an atraxa early with multiple copies of leyline binding. all inside of the first 15 cards of the game. this has happened soooooo many times that exact scenario. theres just no other explanation for things like this happening regularly. the saddest thing is that i searched "mtga rigged 2024" and found a forum where everyone was making the exact same complaints that i am about these ridiculously convenient things that happen in these games. every example i just gave i saw over and over again in this thread of replies with hundreds of pages and thousands of accounts from different parts of the world and in different languages listing off the exact same examples as me. i think the game's AI decides a winner, chooses an opponent and then maps out the whole game and makes us play out that script(granted we're playing optimally). the AI knows what the best decision is to make at any given point in the game because dr. ruckus remade the game in code and his AI could do that. he said something like 95% of the time the AI made the same decision he would, and then the remaining percentage was split between times the AI made a worse decision, and times it made a better one. pretty much meaning once a winner is decided the only way for that player to lose is if they drastically misplay with the cards the game dealt them. the deck is an illusion. every time you go to interact with the "deck" the game just gives you the card you need to continue playing out its pre-set script for win or loss. the reason why wizards would do this is because they want to force a win rate percentage that keeps players at a certain level of frustration that pushes them towards spending money on the game at a steady rate, and apparently thats about 50%. they probably collaborated with casino designers and gambling addiction experts to find out how this works psychologically and implement this kind of stuff into the game. it's honestly disgusting. some of the worst greed i think i've ever seen in my life. they ruined my favorite game. the greatest game of all time and they did this to it. i wish nothing but the worst for this god awful company.

I love the mono red game where you can’t get a fifth land to save your life (literally) even with Phyrexian Arena on the field, but your mono red opponent has 5 lands, not to mention every single tool they need to win

I played a game a couple of days ago where I drew 15 cards and not a single land, meanwhile my opponent had hyperramped into 7 mana. This is why people play braindead 2-3 mana aggro decks and quit on turn 4 if they didn't win.

the fact that people qualify for tournaments within this game is gross. it's bad enough you rig a game with no money on the line but tehn add qualifying to win money is just the worst thing.

There is no play in this game just win lose algorithm keeping the winrate around 50 percent. Even the occasional win streak above 10 doesn't change anything. I've gotten to the point where I can predict what I'm going to play against based on my starting hand. During the game, I am able to predict the next card draw very often based on the situation on the table. I despise these paid actors who pretend to be delighted with gameplay, respect bro.

@@tgatt5759 Exactly! Once you realize that you have about 5% to maybe 10% control over if you win or lose, you no longer get frustrated when games turn out that way. I haven't taken Arena seriously for about 5 years. I usually rank up to mythic in the first three days, then troll the "serious" players by gaining millions of life, giving them dozens of turns, then casting Teferi's protection, never attacking and instead neutralizing their cards, and other trollish behavior. Sure, I lose 7/10 games when I play that way, but if they put up with my trolling long enough, I concede the game anyway. My aim isn't to win, but to make the other person think they have a chance at winning, when it's really just an illusion. That's how I have fun in Arena. I only play Historic Ranked best of 1. my handle is nickcopernicus. If you see me, don't take it seriously.

My favorite is when you record 100 games and only get to go first 17 times or have 25 land in a control deck and go on a 5 game losing streak where you fail to reach 5 land in every single match.

I also find Standard boring and inconsistent, was happy to rank to diamond in Historic just now . Standard is just boring compared to historic. Did it with a fun cat pet deck lol. Good job getting Diamond up and running. Also,the new Sorin from MH3 makes for a pretty fast aggro life-gain deck ,too.. just an idea.

In fairness, I see and understand the reason for matchups like we get, but, it begs the question: why do we go flush with lands or vice versa when we're so carefully matched? Is it to give us the feeling of crappy shuffles at the game shop?

I can look at my opening hand, then tell you whether I’m going first or not purely based on what’s in my opening hand. Every time if my hand is good or at least just playable, I’m going second. If I have a hand I can’t keep, I’m ALWAYS going first ALWAYS.

Honestly I just concede until I go first and I have been graced with a good starting hand. And still I need to concede 80% of the time just because I go second. Anyways, going second is a death sentence with how the game is structured. Not to mention the rigging. Besides, conceding at start probably makes my opponents happy that their missions are finally getting completed. Maybe we should do that more.

I agree the way the shuffle is structured it's just a joke. One time I went second 13 times on a row. There is never 1 day which I go first more times than going second, it is hilarious.

I can go second 6-7-8-9 times in a row easily but never first more than 3. Like I said one time I went second 13 times in a row. It's a freaking joke.. and don't get me started on the fake manipulated starting hands...i can go on for hours. This game is a joke.

In my opinion, it just takes a lot of patience. Just make one or two really good decks, and grind for literally a year and you’ll have hundreds of thousands of gold and dozens of wildcards.

Damn I thought my deck was good but now I don't know. Totally changed it and it's worse but better. Maybe it needs more tweaking. I have to stop using cards that counter one thing like creatures because then it's weak against planeswalkers or enchantments. Counter spells counter it all almost but one for one is a waste of a card. I think using the new counters and creatures with counters will be better. I need more card draw. And the lands omg what a pain. Am I unlucky. Should I ignore crazy bad land games or include some land sifting cards perhaps. So many playing agro creatures that I could focus on that and really have a good win ratio. But often it's just about having the right balance between low cost and high cost and mana and removal and card draw. I think I'm close to ultimate deck lol.

If you are frustrated with standard being 99% aggro, i suggest you check out an old card called Goblin Charbelcher. The deck is reasonably expensive but you probably have all the cards. You put those pay 3 life either/or lands in the deck and only them, some Plunderer's prizes, a few elves that tap for mana and leylines of abundance and that's probably it. You'll laugh your ass off all the way to mythic.

That's not how you use full control... The token doesn't get sacrificed until end step. You can just cast Ob normally with casualty. Plus, big brain best MTG player ever forgot casting a planeswalker is a sorcery speed action, so you can't respond to triggers.

I think the game is 100% fake, and if you don't buy the cards or give them money, you get it the worst. My opponent's deck is dependent on what deck I play. Meaning if I play a deck that crushes agro, I don't play much agro. If I play a deck that crushes control, but loses to agro, I play a lot of agro. The statistics are completely different based on what deck I use.

Your mouse issues won't be solved by harassing orphans (probably). But sounds like your dpi changed. A mouse often has pre installed quick keys to change dpi. Mine are above and below the scroll wheel. Otherwise in your mouse's software.

You are just learning that Arena is rigged? Most of us realized that within 2 or 3 months of its original release. Nothing is really random in Arena. Wizards has it rigged to where your W/L will be as close to 1.0 as possible.
