I was thinking of a Gruul shell for Arcanist now that we have Giant growth as well (turn 3 7/9 trampler, yay), kind of reminiscent of the Electrostatic pummeler decks from a couple of years ago... but I guess Boros makes more sense with the whole faux heroic subtheme they threw at us. Without Blossoming defense the combo is much more vulnerable (also Feather mitigates card disadvantage that comes from pump spells rather nicely).

It is definitely another consideration for the 3-drop slot. Potentially has more upside than Warboss.

t3 Feather into t4 Krenko + recyclable Sprint is so much better as a midgame plan though, and Cast Down-proof as well

I wouldn't say strictly better (Warboss can Mentor onto Vindicator and makes a token right away). But the potential upside on Krenko can definitely be higher, so worth trying out.

Results: Out of 10 matches, 7 times my opening hands were full of instants, few creatures (easy targets, exiling "Feather" will reduce chance of victory by 50%) or 2 lands. Extremely hard to remove tough creatures. Not recommended. Disclaimer: you could do definitely better! :)

Bad deck on your end. I play a standard feather and never have problems with it. Run God's Willing to protect Feather from anything but some board wipes. Or run Mardu feather like I do and use Unlikely Aid for indestructible

What do you think about Jeskai version of this deck, with Dive Down and Essence Capture as an additions to the combat trick kit? I feel it has much better match up vs control, especially if you add in Dovin's Veto from the sideboard (although it doesn't have synergy with our cards, it's very good vs sweepers).

Against Kaya's Wrath in particular, you're better off with Sheltering Light, but Dive Down could be nice vs Vraska's Contempt. Don't think it will be easy for the mana to support Essence Capture.

@@LegenVD Well, I guess it wouldn't be easy, but at the same time, vs any midrange deck Dive Down + Feather + Essence capture is a death sentence. Basically, they can't play creatures and they can't remove feather (unless they can cast multiple removal). There are also some other useful tricks in blue, and some good creatures in Jeskai colors that Boros can't use. (Kefnet comes to mind as well, she is probably too slow, but feels like a good curve topper in this list). Cards like Teferi's Time Twist can be used to protect Feather vs both Kaya's Wrath and Vraska's contempt, and boost it at the same time.

This is a really cool deck. Dreadhorde arcanist is my favorite card from this set. Do you think you still get the wizards lightning wizard discount if you are casting it from the graveyard?

well, if you're refering to that double striker, it _also_ has trample, so it goes through.

Awesome deck but why do you do everything the slow way? Like in combat instead of pressing attack with all you manualy click and drag each one. And on the stack you press resolve for each trigger instead of pressing resolve all. It just seems like a waste of time to me honestly.
