It only takes one Abrade to kill a Hulk. I was thinking more about red removal in general, I just used a silly example. I should probably script these things

I love that deck idea! a little too rich for my blood but it may be something I could invest in since I have some of those cards already. There is a cool interaction that I played in one of my sealed tournaments between Ripjaw Raptor and Shaper's Sanctuary where if they target it to try and kill it with burn (or the dino ability that taps to deal damage equal to it's toughness) I draw 2 cards. Plus, the Shaper's Sanctuary is really good against anyone who plans on targeting any of your creatures! Another cool card that might fit into this type of deck, that I like, is the Snapping Sailback. It's a 4/4 for 5 (1 green) that has flash and when it is dealt damage you put a +1/+1 counter on it! It would be great against burn decks and control decks because 1. it can get bigger from damage making it difficult for burn to deal with and 2. it has flash so you can flash it in at the end of their turn or during combat to block an incoming creature.

When I ran a test on this deck I put the 2 drop red dude instead of Servant. It allowed for a turn 4 Carnage Tyrant with haste. It's gross. I also think a couple Blossoming Defense in main board is gonna be needed. Personally, I think letting them have a couple of creatures/artifacts isn't a big deal considering you'll probably have the bigger creatures to begin with. Thanks for the content, Dev. You da man.

If Dinosaurs is a tier deck and I'm sure it will be, I think 1-2 Flings will feel really good in practice. It gives you reach (unlike all of your other 2 mana removal), usually gets spent blanking a removal spell, sometimes is a removal spell, can blank and kill a Glorybringer, kills Planeswalkers (you should really have a way to kill Planeswalkers seeing that only a few creatures have evasion and it's trample which still feels pretty weak when they have blocks). I like the list and the energy subtheme seems to keep the deck really solid.

What about serpopard in the sideboard? I feel like it's a great option against control obviously. Also what about swapping out one servant and one drover for two of the red two mana Dino dorks?
@rrrof711
@rrrof711 7 жыл бұрын
I like the serpopard idea but there are already quite a few non-dinosaur creatures. The main difference between the Huntmaster and actual ramp is that with ramp you can make anything cheaper like the Glorybringers or Nissa/Chandra. The Huntmaster reduces the cost of dinos but it doesn't color fix.

@rrrof711 7 жыл бұрын
serpopard is still a really good idea especially if control starts dominating. I think the main reason it wasn't added to this decklist is because the 7/6 can't be countered creature is like playing 3 serpopards and the cmc of 3 throws off the 2 drop into 3rd turn 4 drop curve.

I think people have forgotten black has hand hate to get that Carnage Tyrant all day. Harsh Srutiny it for 1 or use Infinite Obliteration effects. I also believe Commune with Dinosaurs is 10x better than Attune. I have used it and have never had a time when I missed seeing at least 1 land in Commune. And if you do, there is still a 6th card left on top for the draw. Love the videos, keep em' up Dev!

@uUuWolf16uUu
@uUuWolf16uUu 7 жыл бұрын
It would be a bad idea to target the carnage tyrant with Harsh Scrutiny, you should discard the Regisaur Alpha. It gives the deck the most tempo and is probably the most dangerous card on curve... but you know that of course, right?
@Fenreece
@Fenreece 7 жыл бұрын
Right, but it always comes down to what is in their hand. If you are playing black you can Fatal Push the token, so maybe it isn't as good as Carnage Tyrant in some situations. But you could have 2 discard spells, or they could only have one of those in their hand, or none if it could happen. That's the beauty of variance.

You mentioned keeping this on a budget when you got to Chandra. What does a nonbudget version of this deck look like and where exactly does Chandra fit in? Love the idea of some untouchable creatures since my local meta is white removal city. (one guy playing a mono white control build straight up wrecked your rw deserts deck. I'd love to get some mileage out of those Chandras in a deck that works for my meta.) Secondly, what about some enchantment hate in the sideboard for those white removal spells?

All the good dinosaur cards are gonna cost a lot of money, which really sucks. Like a fool, I watched Carnage Tyrant go from $8 to $26 because I thought to myself, "There's NO WAY it'll go past 10 bucks!" Hopefully it goes down in price. You'll probably have to do a GW or RW dinosaur deck to keep it budget friendly.

I think there's def a budget option man. With all thst ramp available, swordtooth is good, and the 6/6 for 6 trampler is good. Alpha isn't crazy higj either. Could do a small enrage theme.
@travishultine3072
@travishultine3072 7 жыл бұрын
the prices will definitely drop. Carnage Tyrant is the bane of control decks, but it's not very effective against creature heavy decks, and it's especially not very impactful in the dino mirror. plus there are going to be tons and tons of packs of ixalan opened.

For creatures why not use raptor hatchling? I know its not a super great card but use the 1/1 as a chump blocker and bam got that 3/3 dino trample token. Also if we cant put the $26 dollar card in there. Is there a substitute we can put in?

@Matthew-fj6jh 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dev! First of all, great video! Just one suggestion though: when you are creating a competitive deck tech, do NOT worry about the price tag. When watching competitive deck tech videos, I expect it to be the best it can possibly be, regardless of the cost. Save the budgeting for the budget decks. Perhaps throw in some "budget options" at the end of your competitive videos if you still feel the need to appease people on a budget. That being said, what would you replace for Chandra ToD? Thanks Dev!

I think there is room for Samut, The Tested in this deck (maybe instead of the Hydras) - might be a win more, but that +1 gets gross with the big dinos and the -2 enables enrage and the ult is obviously huge

@travishultine3072 7 жыл бұрын
When I was testing, I did try Samut. This is how most games went, turn 4: "hmm, do I cast samut now, or ripjaw raptor?" *plays ripjaw* Turn 5: "hmm do I cast regisaur alpha, glorybringer, or samut? *plays glorybringer*. It always felt like there were just strictly better cards to cast. Who knows though, maybe samut makes the cut at some point in the future.

R/G Dinosaurs seem really sweet. But I don't think it's where the deck ends. There are still some things in the format it can't deal with. I think it can quite easily splash black for some more removal. And btw, Deathgorge is just insane, against aggresive decks it gains you life and if it survives against control, then it's pretty much a 4/3 for 3.

steven kassulke true true. But if Dev made it🤷🏽‍♂️ must be efficient. My deck runs rather faster and efficiently. I'm using Ballista and savage stomp to trigger enrage. Using drover, uc territory and otepec to ramp. My deck is heavy enrage based and consistent turn 7 lethal. Secondary win condition is mana sink on Ballista and enrage sun crowned hunters. Also running 3 Samut, the tested, to trigger enrage and double strike
