Important note about Sarkhan and Grixis Dragons in general: we are going to see the Izzet Guild when all this stuff rotates. I'd say the odds are pretty good we see Niv-Mizzet or some Izzet dragon, and the Mana fixing Sarkhan provides will be sweet.

Cool decks. Really interesting how little impact Dominaria has on this deck. 1 Cast Down (which could be replaced easily), 1 syncopate (which could be replaced easily), and a set of Sulpher Falls.

You should take a look at Dragon's Hoard. I have been playing a Monored (splashing for Nicol Bolas) Dragon deck using Wily Goblin, Dragon's Hoard, and Sarkhan for mana fixing to cast Nicol Bolas. The card draw off Dragon's Hoard is amazing. Once it's in play its recurring card draw for no additional mana investment. I also run Skirk Prospector so that Wily Goblin runs double mana dork duty. Often times I can sac Prospector turn 2 to cast either Hoard or Sarkhan. If I have neither in hand, I can instead cast a Wily Goblin turn 2, then on turn 3 I have 3 mana from lands, 2 from goblins, and 1 from treasure if need be, to cast everything from Bolas to Demanding Dragon to Glorybringer. I also have 2 copies of Verix, which with this much mana can often be kicked turn 4 or 5. The fact that there are a number of ways to cast turn 3 Glorybringer in my deck though, is downright fun.

Been waiting for this deck tech all season now and been requesting it on every single other video that you did so now I have been obliged. This is the list that got second at the SCG Worcester I believe don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure it’s the one that got second. I really like the list been on it 3 weeks but I have made some small changes. First we added a second Lilliana deaths majesty it’s insane after they kill your turn 4 bolas to just play her and bring him right back for extra discard.! They are also zombies for the scarab god triggers and she just makes unlimited 2/2 zombies each turn. The main deck commit felt really slow so I’ve swapped it out and I’ve also removed the unlicensed D. There is hardly a time where it did the 3 extra dmg and with like 12 or more removal spells I felt it wasn’t very useful. I’ve swapped in 2 main deck essence scatters instead and have been very impressed with them. They deal with all the problems creature like rhonas and hazorat and can still counter anything else later game. I also cut 1 champions of wits for the extra Lilliana. I actually like your board a lot more than the stock ones they are playing 1 yehennies expertise and 1 hour of dev. I like the double hour and I’ve also cut the extra gearhulk and moved a sweltering suns into the board for mono red and aggro decks and vinemare.! I’ve gone 3-1 or better each time played it except for 1 2/2 when I played 2 mono red decks and 1 was flame of keld. Those decks are still super fast and get under us quick. The sweltering suns has helped a lot and so has the essence scatters. If you draw the wrong half of your deck like no early removal and get your creatures burned away it’s gonna be a steamroll. Excellent video been waiting for this and now I see which version you like. I will be playing a version of this deck or RB aggro or Mono Green Aggro at the RPTQ September 1st in San Diego wish me luck.

I like Enigma Drake over Exclusion Mage in the post-rotation build, nice body and since most removal spells can go to opponents face it should be able to grow him very fast.... Furthermore, I don't see a good reason for the bounce with the access to all good removal stuff, but hey, at the end it's just a slotholder for whatever we get in fall.

Not sure I agree with the power rankings on the 2nd deck, when comparing the various spells in both decks, the 2nd deck feels weaker in a lot of slots. I'd put it more in the 63+ range... maybe you'd like some arguments for that drop in power ranking: - We loose quite some versatility (dealing with artefacts, less exiling, whirler virtuoso & harness lightning ) - We loose quite some end game value (Scarab God, Lilly, Gearhulk) - We loose early board presence and value cards overall. - While we get some things in return, the plan of the deck becomes a lot more narrow. Obviously the deck still has a lot of power, but with an undetermined meta ahead that doesn't strike me as a plus for the deck overall. So giving it a score of 68 now feels a bit over confident, and even in the current meta a 68 compared to the 69 for the first list feels to high when comparing both decks as far as answers to the current meta are concerned. Still liked both though ^^ … and the video, tnx for sharing :)

Turn one Sacred Cat it is slow, but he can turn games around and protects itself from all but removal enchantments. I think it will work well with chromium and teferi. But it is definitely weak in the current standard
@turnonesacredcat7923
@turnonesacredcat7923 6 жыл бұрын
John it protects itself for one turn, sure you get in for six and then they kill it afterwards, if they have instant speed removal then it does nothing, you are just better off with tefferi a more powerful threat that can sorta protect itself or chromium which is a three turn clock and really hard to get rid of.

Hey dev, love the new bolas. I knew it was gonna be beast. Im trying out a weird infinite combo deck with huatli ultimate and the locust god, using mana fixers. what are your thoughts? I like it because once you got the hustling emblem you can just stall out the game, then the turn you play the locust god, you just win. Kinda reminds me of the saheeli cat combo days.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Nicol Bolas is bad. Everytime I play against it, I deal with it just too easily. And it pretty much never flips. I don't know why it went up in price, I got rid of mine as soon as I could since I'm sure it won't actually retain it's high cost right now.

Could you do rotation proof bw knights
@SlyBlu7
@SlyBlu7 6 жыл бұрын
Most of the B/W Knight decks are already pretty close to being rotation proof. It's not like we're pulling tons of Knights out of Khaladesh or Amonkhet :/ Removal is close to a 1:1 on swaps. Fumigate goes out, Settle goes in. You've got dealer's choice of Murder, Cast Down, Walk the Plank, and possibly Moment of Craving to swap in for Fatal Push. Remember, the format is slowing down by maybe a half-step or step, and possibly even *more* in the competitive scene where Energy is still keeping people gassed up. Having to pay 2CMC instead of 1, isn't as bad as it looks. Plus, wait until we see what we get out of Ravnica (probably few/no Knights, but other good Orzhov support)

Would mono green be better than knights
@SlyBlu7
@SlyBlu7 6 жыл бұрын
Maybe? It will depend on meta and your playstyle. Mono-G is about getting big creatures on the field ahead of schedule. It's an aggressive strategy; very straightforward stuff. Play your ramp, then play the biggest creature in your hand. It's not a "pure" aggro deck though; Mono-R with Chainwhirler and "burn to face" spells or possibly even "UR a Wizard" decks prioritizing burn over control, will potentially "outrun" you before you can ramp into Ghalta or Carnage and finish it out. You also have very little interaction; your opponent is going to resolve cards, and you're gonna have to grit your teeth and power through. Mono-Green basically does 1 thing, but does it much better than anyone else. Knights are a tribal strategy. They go wide with tokens and lower, aggressive drops and then use Lord effects like Benalish Marshal to bump their little 2/2 bodies up beyond what a 2CMC would usually offer. What's keeping Knights in the game (in my opinion) is Dauntless Bodyguard protecting those lords, and the fact that W/B has great removal and answer pieces. If you want to get a little deeper, strategically, you could also add elements of the B/W Lifegain suite, which will make you more resilient against Aggro, or the Black Reanimator stuff to make you better against Control. The biggest issue with Knights (from my perspective) is finding some form of card-draw to keep it gassed up. I think both decks are going to be competitive, certainly at a Casual/FNM level. We've seen iterations of both showing up on the competitive radar and making an impact, so I can imagine that trend will continue post-rotation.

4 Æther Hub 4 Canyon Slough 4 Dragonskull Summit 4 Fetid Pools 1 Island 2 Mountain 2 Spirebluff Canal 4 Sulfur Falls 1 Swamp 15 blue sources for Torrential Gearhulk; 17 black sources-one short of the optimal 18-for Vraska's Contempt; 20 red sources for Chainwhirler, which granted is a bit low (the ideal number is 22), but Flame of Keld decks play about that many mountains, and they still run it.

duuude skip that scrarab god.. make 2 or 3 liliana, 2 or 3 sarkhan a couple of skeleton dragon, skithiryx (or htf he is spelled) or boneyard scourge and Bladewing (etb !!!) then death baron lilianas mastery keep bolas in, make it a draw/discard engine with control b/u/r do it and your green nightmare could end, in this version the deck gets wayyyy more speed and aggro in earlygame keep in mind midrange with 3 colours can be really draw heavy and this could lead in mana lag, so sarkhan is a no brainer with bolas and in fact liliana too.
