Thanks for the helpful guide! I really love the return back to “traditional” Magic. Man, I love Kitty cat tribal. I drafted 2 Arahbo, 3 Wary Thespians, a Claws Out, and 2 Helpful Hunters and went 7-0 on Arena.

Did my first draft yesterday, ended up with 6 wins. I guess creating all of those decks out of some leftover cards as a teenager paid off at least a bit :D. I went for black+white with some decent healing synergies.

Thanks for the tips. Hopped back on arena after a few months off and was getting smoked on the ladder and lack of wildcards. I never play draft and tried one out with a token and had a lot of fun. Love how you said those old cards can make a difference. Big fan of Serra Angel back in the day and it came in clutch in a few games.

I ended up with mono blue, because it was so open. Got all the really good blues, including your mentions. I was surprised to go 7-0. I don't consider myself a good limited player. I was in silver, so that may be a reason.

I've found gw counters super consistent, other decks don't necessarily prioritise the same cards even if they share a colour, so I've frequently ended up with a good deck after picking up a few key rares or uncommons early even when white was very clearly closed off after that.

Fiery Annihilation: "Am I no one to you?!" ;) Although uncommon, this deals with almost any creature in the format and is super-splashable.

In the little I've drafted thus far I've found, Cackling Prowler to be surprisingly good, the ward makes "Cheap" removal not so cheap(and people seem to forget about the ward alot, Also It's big enough not to be totally ignored, especially with any sort of sniping of other creatures from either side..

I tried to do mono red in my last foundation draft. I had alot of fun and close matches but, #Foundwin was not something that happened often enough. 2W-3L Record

I've personally had the most luck with Selesnya, plenty of ways to build it and tons of great support from green cards like treetop, bushwack, snakeskin, bite down, ambush wolf, even the hydras can get crazy when paired with life gain and pridemate if the opponent doesn't have an answer. Orzhov and Rakdos are both runner up from what I've seen, black having great removal and reanimator between nine lives, skeleton, and zombie to fuel you into late game, bloodthirsty if you're lucky enough goes infinite with marauding blight priest which a friend pulled off during the prerelease, but definitely not consistent in the limited format. If you can get the key pieces, black alone is a great pick. Haven't had a good time with red or white for the most part. Red has some great burn cards but outside of dragon trainer, perforating artist, and alesha, red just feels lacking. Blue has some decent control cards, but feels like a worse option to black with no real removal and relies on trying to survive late game to get out big boys like kiora or kodoma that I have yet to see work. I think overall I've had more fun drafting duskmourn because there's a lot of directions to take it, I never felt like I was stuck trying to build the same thing every time. So far with foundations, it seems like it's the same decks between Selesnya/Orzhov/Rakdos that keep winning, just depends who gets luckier on the pull. Last week it was 2 Selesnya in the finals, before that it was Rakdos vs Selesnya, before that it was 2 Selesnya. I can see this set getting a bit stale really fast partially because of how simple it is, but also because it's not super well balanced for draft.

UW flyers seems too hard to deal with. It’s been 6 or 7 wins every time I draft it. I have drafted day of judgement a lot too actually. So you get to try and swarm the board with unblockables unless they have reach, and if they do you likely can deal with it anyways. Then just crash the board if it gets too wide with green and red because you’re drawing a ton of cards.

Just got my first 0-3 😭 drafted what I thought was a sweet elves deck, had multiple lords, some elites, 3 regrowers, with a very very light splash so mana was smooth. And I just… lost? It was hard to explain, except that match 3 opp had leyline axe and a 2 mana flier/vigilance that just smashed until I died. Bad beats, but I think I’m saving all my gold for pioneer masters drafts now 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would rank green much higher: Treetop Snarespinner, Wary Thespian, Bushwhack, Bitedown, Broken Wings. Theres not a single green card in this set that I would say its bad in limited, maybe Preposterous Proportions but even Genesis Wave is good for ramp/flood.

this format has been weird for me because I have done awesome in person at my lgs but horrible on arena, and yet I'd say the lgs players are better competition overall
