it may be corny, but this video was actually very helpful. I am attending shadows over innistrad prerelease and I have only played limited once before, and that was casually with some friends when oath came out. Only one person in the group had played limited before and he didn't do an amazing job explaining things like the BREAD method. so in conclusion thanks and I should actually stand a chance of winning now

I left the game a few years ago. I was a casual player and only got to play a few times out of the year. I was recently asked to join a playgroup, so, I decided to play again. Since they will be playing sealed and I never played that format before, I needed this video! I knew right where to go! Even after 4 years, this video is still relevant and will help me with my Ixalan sealed deck play. Thanks Professor, and since I will playing again, I have re-subscribed to your channel!

Watched your vids and took all of your tips with me to my pre-release event (Khans of Tarkir) at my local store. Was my first time ever attending a club event and playing with random people (Just started playing with my brother) I didn't get to choose my box, ended up with Sultai. Managed to get 8th place out of 60 or so. Went 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss against their champion that won an earlier event. Won 3 packs great value for money, very fun and the experience was invaluable! Thanks Tolarian!

Absolutely incredible that you could deliver so much information in just ten minutes. It went a little fast at times, but I just had to rewatch it and relisten, a few pauses here and there (more than the normal pause spots) very good crash course.

Oh boy; this video as well as the "Beginners guide" video really got me excited too! I started to play mtg when the Magic 2010 set was released with 2 or 3 friends. I think I got in touch with it through a mtg video game that I think was the first duels of the planeswalkers game (maybe?). Yeah, we bought one intro pack each back then, but we didn't know better! At least we bought some boosters with them too and just upgraded them with what we got. We didn't have a mtg shop in our town (small town of 15 000 people deep in the forests of Sweden), so we kept on playing as long as we could. But eventually we got tired of it because of this whole awesome community of events and everything that I now know we missed! I really liked this video! You're fun to watch, inspiring, encouraging and a good teacher! I'm going to bring the summary to all my events where I construct decks until I feel that I got a grip of it. Something I found a bit hard is knowing Why you think some cards are dirt. Sure, I got a few right, but I still think it would be even better if you explained in detail for at least a specific color what you think is dirt and why. I also watched your Fate Reforged and Khans of Tarkir Sealed deck constructing and there you referred to the type of deck (Mardu I think it was called?) that you were going to build. I felt that it was still a little hard to follow since I'm new to the set(s). What's your opinion on Pauper? I think it's fun since it's mostly cheap to play, and I like the idea of Standard Pauper too! Too bad not many other players around doesn't like Pauper enough to play it more. But luckily, YOU opened my eyes for Standard as there are cheap budget decks there too! I'm one of those people that feel proud in Not spending too much money on a CCG game (also don't have a smaller fortune to spend), so more of those Standard budget decks please! It's also fun to get to watch videos about different decks that are cheap but still unique in Standard and gives you a chance like the two you showed in your Sealed deck videos! I recently bought a cheap White-Weenie-like deck for Pauper to get started with my collection and it has emphasis on Jeskai Student etc. I don't think it's too good (strong) and I hope it's not too weak for the casual event this Wednesday! I would also be really interested in buying a functional, good and preferably nice looking game mat and T-shirt from you! I got a really nice bowling T-shirt once (since I play bowling as a sport) and it says "Respect" "Supporting this bowling store" etc. and it looked almost like a professional bowling shirt! If you can make the design of the mat and the T-shirt feel professional, which I'm absolutely sure you will, then I will use them for as long as I can! That is, if you can ship to Sweden at a reasonable price ;) Sorry for writing this in such a long comment, but I felt that it was the way to go now that I have some spare time from university studies. Keep up the awesome work and I would be happily surprised if I got an answer back from you! But I understand if you are busy with life. I also subscribed, of course! Thanks in advance from Sweden! :) -Manny

I just wanted to come back and thank you for your help. I used your instructions from this video and with the BREAD method i managed to come in 2nd place last night at my first MTG prerelease tournament. Out of the 5 match ups i played i won 8 of the 10 games; losing only 2 and went home with 10 free KTK booster packs. Seeing how i had no hope of winning as i'm still new I purely went to play and have some fun. However I can now say the whole experience was truly amazing and well worth it! Thanks again! Oh and go Abzan! P.S The first booster pack i opened from the prize packs had a Sarkhan, the dragonspeaker in it and i even pulled a Anafenza, the Foremost from them to. Imagine that i pulled 2 mythic rares from the booster box they used to hand out prize packs.

Just wanted to let you know: I did a booster draft at my LGS's FNM on friday and went 0-3, feeling as though i drafted horribly (even lost my last two matches to cards I drafted away). Yesterday I played a sealed event with a play group I found in my local city, coincidentally, after I reviewed and watched this very video. I ended up building an America deck (R/W/U) and went 1-1, but more importantly, felt the deck was extremely consistent, plus I REALLY feel like I improved! Thank you so much for the tips you provided! I'm hoping that I can do just as well or even better when I play at the Khans Prerelease in two weeks (especially since I'll be recording the event for KZbin xD) Thank you so much for your instructional videos!

Hi, I would like to thank you for encouraging me to go to my (more or less) local game store. I play MtG since the original Ravnica-Block but never went to any pre-release Events or even Drafts since I didn't know about a store close to my location. Then, even after finding a store, I somehow never managed to go to FNM or other events. After watching your videos I finaly decided to visit the store with a good friend of mine and I played my first Draft ever. I had great luck in picking, so I could build a strong Mardu deck. Even if I went 2:4 and my deck performed a bit inconsistent (thanks to bad mana drawings) I had lots of fun and It was a very great experience. During the draft I was able to pick up a fetchland so it even was worth it from a financial standpoint!. I most likely will go to the store again next week and I have to repeat: I can't thank you enough. If it't not to much of a question I would like to ask you for advice about my Mardu Deck (f.e. which cards you would try to avoid in my situation/next time): my Decklist: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mardu-rush-first-draft/?cat=type Anyway, keep up your excellent work. Best wishes and regards from germany, Lars
