Because the effects of cards are applied in a certain order, that order is referred to as "layers". And the ability of the magus changes non-basic lands to mountains before the mutation takes that ability away. So at that point the ability has already turned the non-basic lands into mountains.

Play Boosters are terrible for limited too: too much variance for sealed and no real way to read signals for Draft. Also, some people hate Duskmourn for not being another fantasy plane. I hate Duskmourn as its sub-theme is inconsistent across its cards and promotional materials. We are not the same.

Mechs and tvs in magic are kinda dumb. Its a fantasy card game. There is still so much potential but they go for the easiest way out every time and it gets old
