Perhaps a Muddle the Mixture would be good in the deck as a Merchant Scroll/Mystical Teachings target that can become a rebel searcher, and also a card that stands on its own. Gotta love those tutor chains that give additional options to get the rebel value going.

I know I said I was gonna build the 420 meme deck in paper, but honestly, this seems like a much more optimal deck to build, even if it is still well over 100 cards. I'd love to build this in paper.

Amazing deck Caleb! A little tip: at 46:10, playing the Thermal Glider instead of Strands was a misplay that ended up costing you the match. In that situation, they had 2 cards in hand. By playing the Glider you opened yourself up to way too many cards that killed you on the spot (2 burn, 2 pump, burn+pump, or any hasty creature). If one of them was a burn spell, they would have cast it before attackers for sure to pump the Kiln Fiend. Having Strands there would have resulted in a free counter while keeping your life intact. Next turn you could throw down the Glider and threaten a removal with the free Strands flashback, eating away their creatures if they attacked but also threatening a free trade, which could have hold them off the attack entirely. With Strands, it's usually a good idea to throw it in the graveyard as soon as you get the chance to "counter" a card from their hand, since having the option to flashback it for free gives you a lot of time and scares away an aggressive opponent. All that said, great video! Can't wait for another league with this deck :)

20:54 Thanks for the explanation. I never thought Lat-Nam's Legacy was some god-awful card like Catalog. I have 1x Diabolic Visions in Commander as a pet card. As low-demand as the Brainstorm-plus-one-mana cards are/were such as Anticipate, I remember that Impulse wrecked house at one point in Magic: The Gathering's history.

Pauper rebels, how lovely! No consideration for 1 Children of Korlis in the sideboard? It's mostly worse than Riftwatcher but can be tutored by Ramosian Sergeant and can come up huge on the turns Burn double spells or goes off with Thermo-Alchemist. Also, if you ever try to re-meme the deck, may I suggest adding the classic Task Force combo? Tutor up Task Force with rebels, then Teachings for Devour Flesh and Dizzy Spell, with Dizzy Spell getting Nomads en-Kor. Infinite life + big deck = fun times :)

From meme to dream! Fun vid as per usual :) My two cents: Thoughts on Coordinated Barrage, at least in the sideboard? Would maybe help slow burn down. This deck will always have at least 1-2 creatures in play unless you're really behind. Also good at removing Faeries and Elves. Would love to see this deck in other match-ups, it's such an innocuous looking deck and you just outlast and outlast and win. The Grand Duke of Durdles.

Thank you for sharing this. Would you happen to have an updated version for 2021? I am very interested in playing this or a version of this that's updated for Pauper tournaments. There may be some new cards that have come out in the last few years that could make this even better.

You have to wonder what Lightning Bolt is still doing in Pauper. It's in Vintage and Legacy decks for a reason. Common sure, but too efficient just like Astrolabe was IMO.
@CalebGannon
@CalebGannon 4 жыл бұрын
at least lightning bolt is in 1 color and doesn't draw you like 3 cards lol. Like there is a real cost to putting bolt in your deck
@Attlanttizz
@Attlanttizz 4 жыл бұрын
@@CalebGannon I don't see the cost really, it's hyper efficient. There's other 3 damage spells that have drawbacks at least (sorcery to player, or sorcery with return fire). Oh well, I haven't heard anyone else complain so I guess it's not all that bad. I just don't like red damage decks in any format.
@CalebGannon
@CalebGannon 4 жыл бұрын
it's not a huge cost, but your deck does have to be able to generate red mana. I agree with you that the card is nuts but so is brainstorm and a lot of other cards in pauper
@ahunter7563
@ahunter7563 4 жыл бұрын
@@Attlanttizz i mean,it's good,but it's not like "put it into every deck good",and that was astrolabe's case. Imo the fun of pauper is having legacy answer with common threats.
@Micheal_Porter
@Micheal_Porter 4 жыл бұрын
Paper has a ton of hyper efficient cards. Bolts, counterspell, brainstorm, etc. Is it efficient? Yes. But so are a ton of other cards. If you ban bolt, you might as well ban the other hyper efficient cards, and then you're just taking away from what pauper even is

I am disappointed with the direction you've chosen to go with this deck. Having a Big deck is an intrinsic disadvantage because it increases variance. You used to have a good reason for playing a big deck, namely, nullifying the drawback of the "tutor self" cards - and I thought that was really cool. You no longer have that. In my opinion, "toolbox" is not a good enough reason to play Big deck. There have been plenty of toolbox decks in the past and none I know of have ever wanted to be Big decks. I want you to try the "tutor self" package again but with the focus on synergy instead of toolbox.
