I'm glad that Sam interjected the point that gender is largely performative. Many people ignore that because society is pretty thorough in inculcating behaviors and attitudes about identity: "real" men and "real" women. My eldest daughter is six feet tall, and that gets held against her as being actually a woman. But these days, with so many politicians and people who have influence that scream against anything beyond their comfort zone while they legislate or bully people to be something they define as acceptable regardless of the damage it does to those they target.
