You lose to force of will, but what's new? So does Goblin Charbelcher.
@galidou996 жыл бұрын
I don't think you guys understand how bad force of will still is today, trade 2 card for one is still bad mechanics in MTG. It's not really good, it's more like stopping what's too good. In vintage, your opponent can win turn 1 before you even have a land on the battlefield if he starts. Force of will stops that ABUSE. How fun is it to start the game and win before your opponent even has the time to play a card. Force of will allows some more fun to be played, it extends the game farther than turn 1-2 win.

I really like this deck, its interesting to see how cards with negative sides being turned into positive sides.
@paulm21636 жыл бұрын
It's a very fun combo and one that's legal in Modern if you cut the Rituals - no turn 1 but I think the turn 1 dream is a little far fetched. It has to be far less than 10% of games you're going to get the turn one as you said. You need exactly a specific 6 cards for the turn one, two of which are duplicates. Back in the day the ol' turn 1 Red Source + Black Lotus for GGG + Channel + Fireball for X = 20 was a 4 card turn 1 kill and that was kind of living the dream and this one is much more difficult to luck into. I think you are roughly 33% to draw specifically 1 Dark Ritual in opening 7 for example. To then layer on all these added factors exponentially drops the odds, esp. with the dubs retrievers, which I believe alone (i.e. I draw 7 and want 2 Myr Retrievers in opening hand) is already only 5% not counting the other cards. If you draw the turn 1 kill in 100 games I think you're lucky and in Legacy the chances of them having Force of Will the game you do draw the dream are pretty high. I really think you'd have more success in Modern. You could theoretically pull it off Turn 2 without some mana cheat - Turn 1 Altar, turn 2 Heartless > Retrievers - at that point really it's just graveyard hate that wrecks you as FoW isn't a thing. You might get the Summoning Spell Pierced but I mean probably a bit more realistic in Modern. Also, in Legacy with so many Sneak/Show decks, Emrakul is a real thing in a decent number of opposing decks. Even if you dodge a FoW you might get hosed by opponent being essentially mill proof.
@collectiblesquash56966 жыл бұрын
It's true what you say. My guess though is that most people are going to use this in casual kitchen table environments where even a turn three or four win for such a budget deck is really awesome!!

The actual probability to get 6 specific cards (2 copies of one, using a set of each card in the deck) is 0.1% on your initial hand; 0.3% on turn 1; 0.8% on turn 2... It would be super fun to beat someone with a 2k+ USD deck using this, but its quite unlikely to happen.
@MathasiaJ6 жыл бұрын
Jesus Ojeda the issue is that magic shuffling is not perfect. It is not truly random, but it is close. So yes it is unlikely, but not As unlikely as pure probability would dictate
@jesusojeda78506 жыл бұрын
I think you should reconsider because thats exactly what probability does. By definition- the extent to which an event is likely to occur, measured by the ratio of the favorable cases to the whole number of cases possible. It can happen, if thats your point, however it would happen around 1 out of 1000 draws on hand 1 and so on. Chances or "luck" plays an important part in magic, and thats precisely why reliability is one of the defining factors of a good deck. In the end, fun is the most important thing about the game, anyways (for us, not pro players at the very least) and pulling out some combo can be very fun, so all in all it's a cool deck. Plus, you don't need to pull the combo in the first 2 or 3 turns to win every game.
@MathasiaJ6 жыл бұрын
Jesus Ojeda true. I was merely dating that the likelyhood of said "perfect draw" is a little more likely than you'd think.
@jesusojeda78506 жыл бұрын
It is not about what I "think". It's about math- I didn't "think" or just came up with those numbers, that's the actual probability of getting 6 specific cards, 2 copies of one, having a set of 4 of each card in a deck of 60 cards by drawing 7-8-9 cards. Don't you believe in math? Ok, please don't mind me.
@JoeyMossBBG6 жыл бұрын
The odds of pulling the exact cards you need turn 1 are extremely low. I threw a random percentage out there for the heck of it. Most turn 1 win deck techs are similar in that they are extremely hard to pull off but awesome once they do.

I remember when the second Ravnica block came, with Gatecrash and Maze's End. I chose Dimir, got that Consuming Aberration, and fell in love with mill. Use that and later Phenax for a beautiful EDH/commander deck, I was easily able to get my opponent to mill half of their deck with 3 cards, lands not included. Consuming Aberration, Mind Funeral, and Phenax. For best effect, Consuming Aberration first. Then play Phenax, triggering Consuming Aberration, they mill until they get a land and Consuming Aberration gains that much power and toughness, then Mind Funeral. Consuming Aberration triggers again, milling until they get another land, followed by Mind Funeral's effect going until 4 more lands. Then tap Consuming Aberration for Phenax's effect and they mill its new toughness. Unless heavy on lands, that is always a lot, and that's assuming they only had one card in the graveyard to start (so Consuming Aberration wouldn't kill itself). Played a 4 way EDH match with it, Stolen Identity to copy my Consuming Aberration, first guy milled 20. Tap a Consuming Aberration and the second guy milled another 35 total, tapped the other Consuming Aberration and the last guy milled 70 as a result. I wish I knew about some of these cards when I built it, they would be perfect in it

Haven't played for years, but my favourite play was during Odyssey Block .. using Rotlung Reanimator (Whenever a cleric goes to the Graveyard from play, summon a zombie token) and Artificial Evolution (change all instances of 1 creature type, with another on target card). I'd attack with something like a Nantuko Husk, (sac a creature to give +2/+2 ability) wait for opponent to not block, then cast Artificial Evolution on the Rotlung, change all instances of the world Zombie to Cleric (so it now reads, whenever a cleric goes to the graveyard, summon a cleric token) then use Nantuko Husk to sac a cleric, .. (gives +2/+2) .. Rotlung triggers and summons a cleric token). Rinse, repeat, (it was consistent enough that my opponents would fold the second I tapped a blue mana after they declared no blockers)

Personally I prefer bloodbond march, heartless summoning, myr retriever, and perilous myr. I ran this in an old modern Dredge deck I was running. Works similar to this, except you want a retriever in the GY, play perilous, ping for 2, play 2nd retriever, return retriever from the GY with bloodbond march, both hit the gy, stack it so one targets perilous, the other targets the other retriever. Little bit more interesting interaction, but can't be done turn 1.

Very nice theme you have. Quick and deadly. I've written down the cards for the next time I build a deck. That is once my friends get back into playing the game. I wish it were only a $20 deck, however pricing from the store I order from, it'll cost me $59.16 total excluding the land costs. That's the typical price I invest in a deck anyways. I'm not too hardcore to go beyond that. My friend is normally the Mill theme player, but if I put this beast together and show him maybe he'll think next time who he takes out first with his Millstone deck. I sold my 8,000+ collection a few years back so I had to start building new decks and buying online when my friends got back into playing. So it's nice seeing videos like these for ideas. Having 4 of each of those cards, I could see the 1 turn move coming often enough and it's those moments that'll fill you with every bit of joy possible playing among friends. : )

@@dakotalayman9123 i don't think you'd be "immune" but rather a bit more resilient. i mean it's an infinite combo so he could claim to do it until your deck only had the emrakul left, wait the 4 turns at worst and win. even if you discard the emrakul he can mill you again and you have no way of increasing your hand, so you'd have to win before you ran out of options in your hand. please tell me if there's anything i'm missing, haven't played magic in almost a decade but coming back nowadays.
@dakotalayman91235 жыл бұрын
@@ShinkuDragon you've got me there but the random nature of shuffling it and the graveyard back into the deck would make It extremely hard to do it until only Emrakul is left in the deck. Technically I guess since he can go infinite you could argue that at some point the situation would offer where the only card left is Emrakul and then I draw it and then door the turn after, but there's also an infinitely large chance that It never actually happens because of randomization.

Myr Retrievers are great combo pieces. I use them with Ashnod's Altar for infinite ETB triggers. Altar of the Brood will be a nice additional wincon for my combo deck.

My brother has decks for (deep inhale) taking all the turns and controlling you on your turn, land destruction, all the Nicky Bolas, extort, creatures that have infinite p/t, taking all your creatures or just kiling them off, the burn it all deck, mill half your deck then do it again, countering (nopeing) all your stuff, and meny more. Had slivers. And we do not speak of the Elfs.

Automated Artificer would be a nice replacement for the pricier cards. Heartless Summoning makes it a free cast, and it produces colorless mana that can only be used to pay for abilities or artifact spells. It's currently legal in all formats and a common, which fits into budget decks. Or Myr Moonvessel, a Common that comes out free with Heartless, dies immediately, then gives you free colorless mana.

Seems good. Only problem I see is that 6/7-8 of your starting cards need to be the combo. Might as well try to draw exodia turn one.

it is wrong. Master set don't change any card legality. They are only legal in a master draft or whatever format they used to be. Dark Ritual into Liliana of the Veil is way too powerful.

Went back to find this video so I could finish making this deck myself. Saw it when it first came out and I altered it a little. Splashed red for Unlicensed Disentigration as additional removal. It synergizes really well with your artifacts. My sub for Dark Ritual is Crypt Ghast. Also Ruinous Path is Sorcery speed Hero's Downfall. Makes it a little cheaper. I also really like playing Corpse Churn to get to your Myr's faster. Cheaper and easier to find than Dimir Machinations. Haven't found any in a year...I only buy LGS or from other players... You can just run Diabolic Tutor of Beseech the Queen. BtQ is nearly $4 each and DT is only like $0.50. Lastly, I like to run something like Shriekhorn for additional mill...plus once all of the counters are gone, you can sac it to Grinding Station. Not sure why this video has 1000 dislikes. Oh yeah, haters.

To make it modern, change the Dark Rituals into Simian Spirit Guides.
@emmet23966 жыл бұрын
No you need black mana for the heartless summonings
@kiyan53406 жыл бұрын
Emmet Cohen what does that have to do with anything. You already have swamps in the deck, and heartless summoning only need one black Mana in it's 2 CMC cost.
@johnathanhoopes48426 жыл бұрын
God hand: 1 Swamp, 2 Simian Spirit Guide, 1 Altar of the Brood, 1 Heartless Summoning, 2 Myr Retriever. Exile SSG to pay for Altar, play Swamp, exile SSG and tap Swamp for HS, play first Myr Retriever, play second Myr Retriever retrieving the first, repeat until opponent's library is in their graveyard, pass turn. On draw step, they lose. Yay for Modern!
@lightmagicianknight6 жыл бұрын
I love the overall deck but there is 1 change I would make...i would replace the 4 dimir machinations with a 3rd beseech the queen & 3 shred memory...I feel the build you have is squandering the amazingness of transmute...you have 4 transmute cards with only itself & sideboard cards as targets...the rest of the deck are all 1cc, 2cc & 6cc cards. Shred memory serves better than dimir machinations because it can fetch half the deck & also protects the combo mainboard with instant speed removal for decks running eldrazi or alabaster dragon to protect against mill like such

Wait, do infinite combos mean you win? I am a newer player
@effsea99896 жыл бұрын
Dr. Graffiti stopani yes
@maddeeps55206 жыл бұрын
This one does because it mills out your opponents entire deck while the combo is still manual (you have to manually recast the Myr each time it gets into your hand) so if you get the loop going it will not end in a draw because you can just mill out the number of cards your opponents deck contains, don't cast the myr that returned to your hand, pass turn, and win
@griffinstopani94866 жыл бұрын
OK thnx guys
@antonio96936 жыл бұрын
Dr. Graffiti stopani still, it's better to make it clear for you if you're new: this combo is an autowin in theory, but there are 3 major issues why it would never work well: 1. This deck is not legal in Moden due to Dark Rituals, which means u could only play it in Legacy format, where everything is broken. 2. Force of will and other nasty counters like Daze exists in Legacy, and would stop that combo right away. 3. Let's assume they have no FoW in hand: the chances of drawing 6 especific cards out of 7 in turn 0/1 are ridiculously low, and slightly increase in later turns: even while some combo decks work in a similar way, they have higher chances and cantrips (cheap library manipulation spells) to make it possible, which this deck just lacks. Being realistic, it's just funny to see, but comboing like that with this deck will most likely almost never happen.

"gaurenteed gaming winning combo" shame this would result in the game being a draw, not a win
@TribesAerialAssault3 ай бұрын
I would suggest adding something like Extirpate or surgical extraction. Since you are doing budget build. Either of those is better than the search you are using. Since deck is only legacy legal. Surgical Extraction is like 1.00. It will allow you to remove cards if they are running Emrakul , Gaea's Blessing, etc. Which would keep them from being able to be milled out. Surgical is free so doesn't hurt in terms of mana cost. Extirpate is one but would remove all of the threats at one time for a single mana. Just an observation.

I have a Myr Retriever combo, but uses Ashnod's Altar and Diciple of the Vault. Basically infinite damage loop. Pretty fun to do because once people realize what you're doing, they throw everything they got to try and stop you.
