In Commander or Oathbreaker, this truth doesn't change: needs moar board wipes. :) This is especially true when you have to use a Planeswalker as your "commander" and need them to stick around so you can cast your signature spell.

Hah, I had an EDH game on Wednesday evening, where I got sandwiched in between an Izzet and a Simic player. I tried casting 5 board wipes in a row, an all of them got countered. It was not fun.

But do not overdo it. The most annoying decks are these esper/mardu decks with 1/3 of the cards being boardwipes. These decks make EDH very little fun to me

@@DarkEinherjar Mathas grouphug/slug - Everyone gets a lot of tokens, extra cards etc, but I board wipe whenever someone is starting to pull ahead too much... Or at least I try. Not much you can do when sandwiched between two people who both are heavy blue, and don't want to lose their board states.

Nice game. Having played the format myself for two evenings now, I don`t think it quite hit the mark for a shorter game experience. The games I played took nearly as long as regular commander games and while I enjoyed the new deckbuilding style I will still stick to original commander for most of the time.

Nice game! I am quite certain that there was a missplay. The two dragons that entered by utvara enter at the same time; they both trigger tempest at the same time so you got two triggers on the stack that chech the number of dragon you contol, which is 4, so dealing a total of 8 damage, not a total of 7 😉

There was no missplay there, the tokens won't come in at the same time. Utvara will trigger twice, once for him attacking and once for intet attacking, and those triggers will resolve separately, making one token enter the battlefield and then the other.

Also with the mirror of the forebears he could have made a copy of the Hellkite and got 2 Dragon tokens per Dragon swinging plus you could have swung the mirror of the forebears creating 6 Dragon tokens.

seeing oathbreaker is nice though i was more surprised that there was only 1 blue player and blue wasn't their main color. still that was fairly entertaining to see more attacking than comboing in a commander format.

At 9:35 the dragon Tempest sees both tokens entering at the same time meaning that each token deals 4 damage.

Actually this isn't true, because the Hellkite triggers separately for each dragon, they enter at different times and will trigger differently. Ex: If you have 4 dragons and swing with all four, the Hellkite will trigger and the first token will deal 5 and gain haste, then the second 6, etc.

5:05 omg I hate when people exile cards face down unless a spell specifically instructs them to! By default that creature exiled with path to exile should remain face up. Especially don't have it face down AND parallel with your library. That's a great way to accidentally put your library on top of it after a shuffle.

10:00 it has nothing to do with order i think: if i understand correctly which cards its about Bear Umbra untap is ON attack, not dmg. (like feast and famine) so theres no correct ordering for intheb? + Umbra. And yes its kinda nit-picky

This game stands in stark contrast to the Oathbreaker games I played with my EDH group. Granted, most of the decks in my group were either netdecked, or, as in my case, a cobbled-together mess made from EDH decks. Anyways, out of 8 players, only me and one other guy played any creatures worth a damn, the rest opting for very heavy control shells with walker value, and it made the games... Tedious and oppressive, to say the least. I couldn't get any creature to stick to the board, resulting in a game where nothing except walkers being ticked up really happened. The games lasted at least as long as your run-of-the-mill EDH game. Suffice to say, while I haven't really given the format a fair shake, I don't think I will in the future. This experience reminded me why I find the concept of any walker as one's commander, rather than ones specifically designed for it, bad.

The two dragons dont enter simultaneously. The stack has both triggers from hellkite. After the first one resolves a dragon enters, triggering the dragon tempest while still having the remaining hellkite trigger still on the stack. Then tempest resolves, then the last hellkite trigger resolves, triggering tempest again.

You need 9 Mana to do it on the same turn, and is not as broken as it sounds since every opponent can see it coming, the format can have some powerful plays but since you need your planeswalker on the field to cast the signature spell and commander tax applies, you usually get to cast the spell maybe once or twice per game if you are lucky

That's not correct. Each dragon attacking triggers the Utvara separately. This means the first trigger will make the dragon, dealing three. Then the second one resolves, doing four.
