Almost always. If they have no board state and a lot of cards in hand, and you have an Omniscience on board, that would be a situation where time would likely be a better choice.

Then again, if the opponent has resolved Omniscience AND Expropriate and has a hand full of powerful stuff, chances are that player is going to win the game regardless of Expropriate's choices.

Looking at this I think Marco was right in voting for Time as he had quite a board out and you wouldn't want to give Jamie Sheoldred. The sacrifice triggers helped contain Jamie from going too crazy.

At around 8:30 the karmic guide should also return to marco's hand, as the Necromancy falls off due to state based actions before the proteon hulk death trigger resolves.

Is the protection from black the state based effect? Does this stop the karmic guide's etb trigger from going on the stack?

@@Duranous1 Duranous No, when it is in the graveyard it can be enchanted, however, once on the battlefield, the trigger will try to go on the stack, however, it won't trigger before the state based actions are checked. Therefore the enchantment falls off karmic guide thus causing you to sacrifice it, and only then the trigger goes on the stack.

The reason I hard cast her is because I have skull storm in the deck so after casting her three times I planned on using it against Marco except it wouldn't hurt him much for he had creatures to sacrifice

How did Jamie make a black mana for Yuriko with Unclaimed Territory? It only makes colored mana to CAST Ninjas in this case and Ninjutsu is not casting your creature.

@2:26 Jamie shouldn't be able to use unclaimed territory to play Yuriko, as it is an activated ability not actually casting a spell so the land doesn't add a color only colorless.

Great content as always! I have a concern, though: Please notice that when Commander Ninjutsu was used at 2:24-2:26, the only lands Jamie had were two Islands and an Unclaimed Territory. The text on Unclaimed Territory is as follows: "As Unclaimed Territory enters the battlefield, choose a creature type. {T}: Add {C}. {T}: Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast a creature spell of the chosen type." I think Jamie shouldn't be able to use Commander Ninjutsu as the black mana produced by the land wasn't used to CAST Yuriko, but was used for Commader Ninjutsu, which is not the same as casting Yuriko. Please correct me if I'm wrong :) Anyway, thank you again for the awesome content! More power to this channel! :)

The Anafenza deck is just a "fair" version of the prototypical abzan creature-combo deck.

Also comments about Expropriate: it's a key piece I'm my Kraken Time deck. I would win many fewer games if people just did the right thing and gave me a permanent every time.

I think we can all agree that there are only two situations in which it MIGHT be okay to choose Time over Money when Expropriate is cast: 1. if the permanent that the Expropriate caster steals from you will end the game or take you out of it in the extra turns, like a creature that is guaranteed to swing at you for lethal, a planeswalker that's about to use a broken ult, and other stuff like that; 2. if the Expropriate caster has no hand and a very weak board, in which case the extra turns just become extra card draws most of the time. In every other scenario, Money is the better choice.

A guy in my play group has a Avacyn deck too. It’s full of mana rocks and white goodstuff. Usually when my play group plays with the avacyn deck the players with the control and kinda control decks either steal of make copies of avacyn.

Jamie only lost because he doesn't cast scroll rack before, if he had, he would be able to use it right away and put it Skull Storm and the Ink-Eyes on top, revealed with two triggers from Yuriko, and in response to the other two triggers, put them back on top and hit it again!

Chris' deck didn't stand a chance, angel tribal was way too weak for that table. Even if he had been able to cast Avacyn, she would've just died right away to the sacrifice triggers.

Man i have a question, the Karmic Guide should don't die in the minute 6:53, or is it? the Echo ability says (At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.), so he should keep the Karmic Guide one more turn or, am I misunderstanding something?

No. Karmic Guide entered the battlefield during Chris's turn, so Marco hasn't had an upkeep step with it yet. Therefore, in his next upkeep, Echo triggers and he has to pay the cost or sacrifice it.

I mean, you say it, Marco put the Karmic Guide in his battlefield in Chris turn, so he doesn't have his Karmic Guide since his unkeep, he have to stay one more turn with the Karmic Guide in his battlefield, doesn't he? Then, in his next turn It says that if you had Karmic Guide in your battelfield sience the beginning of your last unkeep, you have to sacrifice it unless you pay for the echo.

Echo's reminder text: "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost." It entered the battlefield during Chris's turn, which fits the "since the beginning of your last upkeep", even if it's not Marco's turn. Therefore, when Marco's next upkeep step comes up, Echo will trigger. This goes for everything with Echo: if the permanent is on the battlefield and its controller hasn't paid for Echo yet since it entered the field, s/he WILL have to pay for Echo on the his/her next upkeep.

Johnno MacDonald Yuriko is whenever a ninja you control deals damage, so each Yuriko saw 2 ninjas deal damage, themselves and the other.

Jamison punted hard on casting Yuriko with Sheoldred out and a swamp as it couldn’t block and was sac fodder. Protean Hulk is a bs card and needs the hammer again. It does nothing good for the format.
