I think most times I've seen your Daretti games you got focused down first and didn't get to do much. This game gave the feeling of "I'm done messing around".

I finally found the time to update the deck a day or so before this game. Added a lot more filtering effects which really helped, and more damage based pay offs.

I love the content but this game felt like a real example of not having a rule 0 talk and poor threat assessment. Deretti was significantly higher powered than the others. Kykar was fine-ish but the other 2 weren’t even playing the same game. Then watching the 2 mono b players fight each other while you untapped over and over with ToR was painful. I’d love to see Deretti in an appropriate pod
@TCG977711 ай бұрын
Absolutely. He didn't even have enough creatures to block, so with the pressure from T.O.R's life loss, the rest could at least put his life total in position where he could've died from the trigger. Like, he had protection for one turn! After that turn, you should've been a punching bag
@zordzao9511 ай бұрын
Andrew would have probably died if he had been more focused down. I’m sure that the people who play with him regularly know what his deck does. I’m not saying that the Daretti is more high powered than the other ones, but it’s a combo deck, if people don’t see it coming, they deserve to lose.

@@FelippeARJ Ashnod tells you what you want to do. Low costed creatures with replacement effects to ramp into powerful artifacts/abilities. Creatures that scale into late game like augmenting automaton are especially nice. Artifact creatures are very good in this deck because of the powerstones. Don't forget her second ability for when things get dire, activating for chump blockers or at the end of someone else's turn to ensure they are prepped for the surprise attack.

at 8:26, John destroy your lattice in respond to you going to combat, then you sacced a lot of permanents to float mana, but they all happened before you go to combat, so you either weren't able to cast your follow spell (planar bridge) since you can only cast them during main phase, or those mana would fizzle after you enter combat.

Not sure who enjoys watching such a one sided game because one of the decks is clearly leagues ahead of the others, but it's not for me personally.
@mistertrosme11 ай бұрын
at 8:42 shouldn't you have lost the colorless floating mana when you exit the combat phase since john reacted to you and thus not be able to cast planar bridge?
@Lmo77711 ай бұрын
This was all done in Andrew's precombat main phase. Since John floated the mana in preparation to cast a spell, John had to use it before Andrew's main phase ended, which allowed Andrew to once again have priority during the main phase to cast spells as normal before attempting to move through combat again. This was all played out correctly from my quick review.
@mistertrosme11 ай бұрын
@@Lmo777 okay i thought it went on stack of changing phase, didn't know it went back to precombat mainphase as normal
@Lmo77711 ай бұрын
@@mistertrosme No problem, that's a constant in MTG, in order for each phase to end each player needs to pass priority for the game to move forward! That's why people will pipe in and take actions "in response to X phase ending", they are using their given priority to do something (rule 500.2).
@Zarbon00010 ай бұрын
@@Lmo777Yea but once the player whose turn it is says I pass priority and want to go to my combat phase, once it goes around the person who turn it is can only fast fast effects, not land creature or sorcery. So they couldn’t play Planar Bridge.
@Lmo77710 ай бұрын
@@Zarbon000 This statement is incorrect. In order for you to do anything at sorcery speed it needs to be your turn's main phase (pre or post combat), you have priority, and the stack is empty (CR 117.1a). Once the stack clears from John casting Shattering Pulse, Andrew once again has priority, nothing on the stack, and it's still his main phase. A main phase ends when all players pass in succession while the stack is empty (CR505.2). He can use that priority to simply 'pass' and attempt to move to the combat step, or continue with a different course of actions as this game displayed (CR 500.2).

@maximumjongs11 ай бұрын
I know hindsight is 20/20 but, they should have been focusing your Daretti when you were vulnerable, Arca knew. Arca needs more tutors, he knows what the deck is supposed to do but he is neglecting the most powerful tool in black. Arca, you're playing a low power commander, don't hold back with the tutors. Use the tutors and give them a tour of the citadel. 😈
@Smaul00211 ай бұрын
Is Daretti still a good commander or has he been powercrept out of the format? Obviously the game was won with Daretti. Just curious if game to game he feels consistent like many of the more modern commanders
@paulball213711 ай бұрын
I think artifact strategies in general are quite powerful and Darettis rummaging and reanimating effect are redundant to what you want to do anyways. So yeah as you said, crazy consistent. Most modern commanders seem to be payoffs, but Daretti is a pretty solid enabler imo

The $2000 deck won in a casual table? Shocking
@elcapitanofthemtn11 ай бұрын
While there were a lot of super strong cards in the deck, the price is also heavily inflated by the fact that he has a lot of the special Kaladesh inventions versions of the cards. That Mana Crypt is worth like $800 versus closer to $180 and the Crucible of Worlds for example was worth like $100 when the standard version is closer to $20. The deck was still super strong, but also was *that* expensive because of bling.
