Better than messing with Yisan's activations by getting suboptimal creatures: mess with them by not getting any creatures at all. You can do so, because if a tutor specifies the card you're searching for, you can choose to not find anything, even if you have a card that meets the search criteria. That being said, recurring Mindslaver over and over again to mess with Yisan would probably end up painting a target on YOUR chest instead, because your other opponents would quickly realize they'd be the next in line if they didn't stop you.
@quarterknight35724 жыл бұрын
I feel like a single creature board wipe about halfway through the game would've knocked Yisan out of the game since at one point I thought I heard you say he had only a single land. Being left with just 1 land halfway through the game would just knock anyone out of the game.

Aiden did a decent job with piloting Yisan but had so many missed triggers or the ability to double search at certain CMCS. You are able to stack the find triggers if you untap at instant speed. I am sure he might have been able to win sooner had he drawn with the guardian project. Also unsure why he didn't take the 6 not allowing the duplicate as he was in a commanding lead and enough blockers to stop any aggro.
@awesomeatm4 жыл бұрын
This game was filmed a week or two after I had finished the Yisan deck, so I stuck to the line that I had started with the basic line I put in the deck instead of double searching.
@JohnathonMinjarez4 жыл бұрын
Aidan Morris It is a very difficult deck pilot given the number of lines I think overall you did well given the time from built to playing. Do your best to be aware of your own triggers and draws.

Someone should tell Aidan to double up on Yisan triggers whenever possible. If you can untap at instant speed, why not go search for two 5 drops instead of a 4 and 5 drop?
@noahpetrasko67774 жыл бұрын
I agree with your point, but yisan usually has a lot more powerful cards in the 4 slot than the 5 slot. At 4 you can get cards like sabertooth and karametras acolyte to go infinite with an untapper like quirion, or acidic slime and thought-knot seer for that sweet value. On 5 usually yisan has seedborne and basically nothing else.
@fickett78704 жыл бұрын
If aiden's turns were always controlled then they could just "fail to find" with yisan each turn which would have slowed him down a bit granted with all his untaps he could do it on each other persons turn anyway.
@Sniperfuchs4 жыл бұрын
I think the key mistake was just being so slow to react. Imo, in a "normal" game where everyone is on the same page, NOT playing Yisan on turn 2 would have been a mistake, cause you lose an entire turn to climb up the ladder to the Craterhoof. However, Aidan was given all the time in the world to just chill and hang back, which is not what you want to see as an oponent. Resetting the clock even once with spot removal is devastating, let alone a board wipe. In stronger (or cEDH) groups it's risky cause you don't wanna blow that removal that could stop someone else from straight up winning the game, but in this slow-paced game, it would have been perfectly fine since nobody seemed like they play the kind of deck that just wins out of nowhere. Just comes down to proper threat assessment for this one, but you learn from your mistakes.

You have to take into account how long the game took, and how many other games they played before that one. The longer you play nonstop, the more your physical and mental condition deteriorates, making it easier to make such mistakes.
