Cleopatra, the woman who seduced Julius Caesar and later Married Marc Antony was not actually Egyptian, she was from the house of Ptolemy who were Greek. Ptolemy the Great was a close general of Alexander the Great, later given Egypt as his dominion when Alexander died. His descendants continued to control Egypt as Pharaoh / Kings for many generations before the famous Cleopatra featured on the MTG card. She wasn’t very pretty, just powerful and rich. The Ptolemies supposedly never learned to speak Egyptian and continued to speak Greek. Thats why her card is in Greek. His maybe an Archaic form of Greek I’m not sure.

the Socrates card reads: Sokrates, Athenaios Didaskalos - Comes from the Greek words So-Kratees, Athene-ayos and Da-Daskalos - wits meence Socrates, Athenian Teacher. I know because I'm Greek :) Cleo is in Greek too, because while she was a female Pharoah, she was also of Greek heritage. I believe Leonardo was in Latin?
