Nice James, G scale is quite unique, to me it’s the one with the most realistic sound and detail apart from the steel bell instead of the E-Bell. Keep it up 👍🏻

Did you say you were going to make custom auto racks for the 1:32 scale? If so I would be super super interested. I’m a huge MTH one gauge fan and I also have almost all of these sd70ace’s and would love to have some super modern freight that is the right scale to run with them. I actually bought some USAT container cars to try behind them but the size difference looked silly, IMO. So auto rack or container care would be super interested.

There actually is no such thing as G scale. Technically for the scale rail gauge, 1:32 is the true correct scale, also known as 1 scale or 1 gauge or gauge 1. I have no idea why USA Trains is 1:29 but that is not true G-gauge scale, or Gauge 1. LGB trains are typically 1:22.5 for their narrow gauge prototypes, but I'm not sure what they do for standard gauge. However, 1:32 (or Gauge 1) is the true correct scale for G gauge standard gauge prototype trains.

I know this is a year old but LGB (atleast for germany) has actually 1:16 and 1:22.5 models. Piko is 1:22.5 aswell. They look good for 75cm and 100cm real engines but main line engines look kind of weird in that scale.

James, I noticed that you are sing an MRC Prodigy and not the MTH hand held remote. I was not aware that they would work on MTH, that you had to use what MTH Offered or download the app to your phone and then use your phone.

Why do they never equip these G scale locos with the prototypical front snow plows? And as for the non scale accurate guage, I wish F scale was more popular and that manufacturers would produce F scale equipment. Also, do you think these could benefit from an additional woofer and sub woofer to not make it louder but give to a deeper depth to the sound? That's something that I've always found odd is that these locomotives always sound tinny, at any volume.

I'm wondering the same thing. Why aren't the couplers body mounted? To me it takes an amazing looking model and makes it look like a toy.

@@JF-lt5zc that's the problem with "Gauge" models. O scale/gauge is plagued by this ugly design.

@@AbelG8781 Too bad. I've done plenty of body mount installation of couplers in HO. Is this something that the large scale guys do? Obviously you'd have to build a pilot, but its all so huge up there it seems like it would be a snap.

@@JF-lt5zc It's am MTH thing. Both USA Trains and Aristocraft have fixed pilots. As far as my MTH SD70 ACE, it came with a set of pilots that you can switch out and they do not move with the trucks. You also will need to replace the couplers with kadee Gauge 1 couplers.

I just realized that the front coupler and snow plow rotate with the truck, thats pretty stupid and verry inaccurate!

USA Trains is "A" scale. G scale is 1:22.5. The G gauge world is not very good at telling us what scale their products are. They call everything "G scale" when they are "G gauge" (45mm gauge), but not usually G scale. Good luck navigating the G gauge world. It drove me crazy, as you can tell.:)

The other thing that may drive you nuts is the coupler situation. They like to put couplers attached down low to the bogies. I model with Charles Ro, USA Trains, and had to cut all their couplers off and mount Kadees to the bodies. Pay close attention to what rolling stock you buy, because some have easy to convert pockets, but some don't, and it'll take a lot of custom work to fit Kadees. (Hopper cars especially.)

I have the George Bush 4141 , Christmas GS4 4449 and the Big Boy 4014 which is 53 inches long and the UPS store brought it out on a flat cart . Got them all through Trainworld
