Can I be honest? The Pennsylvania steam engine you have is beautiful. It’s stupendous and phenomenal. It’s outstanding and don’t ever deny it. It’s perfectly made for entertainment and getting a lot of attention, my man I say you should run this more often but I do understand if it took some work to repair it and restore it, but hey in the end it’s entertaining fun and outstanding to watch. Please run the steam engine more and more in the near future.

A great aquisition Jason! And young Mr. Sid is an absolute wizard! A better wizard than Harry Potter in fact, because Sid's real! (And he's a braver man than I am! When I saw the "skins" off those units and all the boards and wires my blood ran cold!) Superb modifications, especially the "chuffs" of both driver units trying to beat each other out of the smokestack! And the whistle steam? What can we say? Perfection itself. AND add on those "Fleet of Modernism" cars and you've got the perfect Post-War Broadway Limited! Thanks for sharing it with us! I wouldn't blame you if you stay down the basement all week running the thing and only come up for bathroom breaks! PS: A little bit of T1 history. When the first two hit the PRR property they were so exotic and futuristic-looking Pennsy enginemen nick-named them "Flash Gordon" and "Buck Rogers!" /

It’s absolutely stunning! A slight observation/correction if I may: per your comment at 4:03, Lionel did make a T1 Duplex with whistle steam, it just wasn’t offered for very long. It was in their Lionmaster series, designed to run on tighter curves with some aesthetic sacrifices made to accommodate the smaller curve radii. I believe the model was 6-11207. I used to own one, it’s the only reason I know. Other than that, what a pleasure to see some Pennsy steam on your layout! More, please!

That is one gorgeous locomotive, Jason. I'm quite jealous, for sure. Sid did a fantastic job on the upgrades. The whistle steam is just plain cool and the sound set is perfect. The T1 is my second favorite passenger locomotive, just behind my favorite locomotive of all time, the S1 and just a tad ahead of the Milwaukee Road's A's and F7 Hiawatha's. It looks real nice heading the Trailblazer. They were brutally fast locomotives, but they had some issues with the Franklin Poppet valves at very high speed. Franklin sent some of their engineers to ride along and they documented that the valve gear could fail at speeds approaching 135 mph and recommended that they shouldn't exceed the 130 mph mark. Just amazing engines. The Pennsy had a fairly decent presence in Cleveland. They operated the Cleveland Line and joined the NYC at Drawbridge and serviced Whiskey Island. I took a number of trains in and out of there during my career. It was always cool to see the marquee on the Agora, all lit up at night. It was a great time running trains through Cleveland. An excellent video, as always.

Jason, I have loved that engine for a long time and definitely share your enthusiasm for it. I also have the MTH Premiere version but it remains in its original PS1/Q1 state. But my first T1 acquisition was a 1989/1990 ROWI brass engine. It is really well done but the electronics left something to be desired so I had it modified with a Q2 kit. I think that is likely as far as I'm willing to go with it (it is a piece of history with only 350 made) and I have the MTH version to run for fun. I also have 10 K-Line heavyweight Tuscan passenger cars to go with it. I understand your enthusiasm about the T1 and what a joy it is to see it running around the layout. My layout is predominantly PRR stream so I have to say you found a great engine to start modeling the "Standard Railroad of the World." Your videos a great. Keep them coming.

Awesome train! Looking forward to when I can have my trains up and running again. Still trying to find a contractor to fix up my detached garage that I've got my layout and art studio in currently. Don't want to get it running now because it's not climate controlled, and to get the building fixed up, I'm going to have to move everything out and put it in the garage attached to the house, which also means parking my Jeep outside in the driveway. At least the trains themselves are safe and packed up out to my dad's house with the exceptions being new stuff (mainly kits) that I have here in my office to put together while waiting on the garage.

1:25 How can one T1 be half the price of the other?? Makes you wonder, especially seeing that both listings use the exact same image. ... lol weird

Trainz doesn’t usually take new pictures for identical items. Each is graded and priced individually however. Look and read the description for each for any potential flaws

How come smoke doesn't come out the stack when at idle? I prefer that it does, it just looks a whole lot better.

I think the smoke unit was cooled down when it was idling. But I can often get a lot of smoke during idling.

What's your thoughts about the triple crown ROAD RAILERS NOT BEING USED ANYMORE AND POSSIBLY OFF BEING SCRAPED

Very sad. My favorite kind of freight train EVER.

They were easy to run, but a pain to put together and even more difficult to set-out a bad order on the line of road. The problem with the RoadRailer trailers, along with all trailers meant for intermodal use, is that they are heavier than standard trailers. They are built to withstand the rigors of rail travel and also being on and off loaded onto flats. The RoadRailer's tires had to be lifted, so they didn't come in contact with the rails. I had one set lower enroute and it tripped a dragger. It was a pain, for sure. Either way, it is mostly their excess weight that keeps them from being used in normal trucking applications.
