I had the PS 2.0 WM Shay and sold it because at the Time I didn't have a big enough Layout to run it on. Now I wished I would have kept it. One thing I was really hoping for, was that MTH would go down to CASS West Virginia and record the actual Sounds of the Shays including the Bells and of course thay great haunting Whistle. Another thing I wish they would have done is get rid of all that Chugging Sound and make it sound like a real Shay with the Sounds of the Gears Working. That would have been awesome. The Geared Engines are actually pretty quite unless working really hard going up the Mountain. But even then you hear those Gears working hard. Nice Review on both Shays.

There is a way to make a digital recording of the Shay locomotive. If you can make a digital video. I made one of 1309 last year and compressed the file and worked the sound file with a friend who can make magic with sound files. Once we had all of 1309’s sounds recorded and mixed. We installed it on a proto 3.0 sound chip. It took a while but it can be done with patience.

@@Attictrains I think it’s not a big deal since the freight cars have couplings that open with a lever on the side or underneath. The new Shay is better in terms of detail.
