Im building a granny suite in my daughter’s walk out basement, and one appliance I found is a wall oven with a side opening door. I’m very happy about that😊

Yes, Yale does indeed have free fresh baked cookies! I'm in process of renovating my kitchen and decided to purchase appliances from them. They have many, many videos that compare different models, which really helped me find the right level of features. The saleperson was helpful and not at all pushy. Two stoves from the same manufacturer seemed very similar in features but one was $700 more.than the other. I asked why and the salesperson said "branding." I have no need to pay $700 for a label. I appreciated her honesty.

I elevated the dishwasher. With an oven you put and take out one or two items, when you even use it. A dishwasher is used every day with lots of items to be loaded and unloaded.

What a great informative video! Fab collab ! Wall oven, ahh, on my next kitchen reno list. Love the sport jacket, Mark.

I would love an induction cooktop. Separate wall oven is much easier than bending down to handle the oven in the usual stove. Lots of drawer space - yes! And yes, Mark, you have converted me to want the one bigger sink rather than a double sink. In the meantime, I'm in a seniors residence with the fridge beside the stove, no counter between, opposite a single sink. " It's a nook!"
@edwardcasper5231Ай бұрын
Good stuff. It seems to me that if one has the space (which many of us don't), every oven should be as close to counter level as practical, and have easy access to landing space. I'm writing this as someone who's now 75 years old and has a 72 square foot kitchen. I don't use my oven because lifting heavy pans with hot food is something I want to avoid.
@billegbert6262Ай бұрын
Thank you! I have been following you both for a while and I'm getting great tips for our future kitchen renovations. One of the first things I learned was how to choose the right sink for the cook! I wish our kitchen was large enough for a separate wall oven and cooktop, but it's just not in the cards for our awkward layout.

Thanks for taking the time to say hello! My kitchen can't handle a wall oven either, but we get along just fine.

I definitely wouldn't have thought of Yale when considering kitchen design.

Well, we sell appliances, but have to know the basics. My level of expertise is not at the same level as Marks.

Good information. I am still planning my dream home, and I have found Yale always gives great ideas, even though it's in a totally different country. I have also watched Mark's channel still thinking about cabinets. I love my old cabinets' tounge and groove drawers but they are too expensive today

Although I like the idea of not bending that a wall oven gives, if you’re short and it’s a traditional oven you’re still bending reaching over the oven door, which is going to be hot, unlike the OTR reaching up where only the food and possibly container is hot. This to me makes a wall oven more dangerous for potential burns than an OTR unless it’s a French door type. In my small kitchen with my small budget it’s probably a moot point. I’ll likely go with an all in one range.

3:22 is that a wall oven under the gas cooktop? I thought I wanted that arrangement until I saw them installed that way in the home center. It might be all right for somebody young and agile, but those of us planning to age in place need to remember, we don't get younger.
@YaleAppliance1Ай бұрын
You can install a wall oven under a gas cooktop, but be careful when mixing brands
@5610winstonАй бұрын
@@YaleAppliance1 I know you CAN install a wall oven under a cooktop, and some people might even be able to use such an installation. I considered it, but when I had the chance to see a wall oven under a standard-height countertop, I found I would not be able to use it.
@billvojtech5686Ай бұрын
@@5610winston What about that combo would make it difficult to use vs a one piece range?
@5610winstonАй бұрын
@@billvojtech5686 I found a display of a wall oven under a gas cooktop at Home Depot. This was the arrangement I had wanted, but I found that the lower rack of the oven was well out of my range of motion for lifting heavy roasters or sheet trays, and since I'm remodeling the kitchen to age in place, I don't expect such tasks to get easier. My design offsets the oven about eighteen inches to the left from the cooktop with a split-level countertop, the oven set about a foot higher than a standard one-piece range. This will allow easier access to the oven and relocate a drawer bank including a warming/proofing drawer under the cooktop.

I live alone, and have recently replaced most of my small appliances with a Thermomix. That, my Ninja toaster oven and my Instapot. All the rest is gone. The Thermomix and the toaster oven are the only appliances that live on the counter in my food prep area. My problem is that because I have upper cabinets, I constantly have to move the TM forward because of the steam it generates, this loses space for prep. I NEVER use my regular oven (except as storage for pans) and rarely my cooktop. I like closed upper cabinets. I am trying to find solutions so I can stop having to move it all the time. I use it several times a day. My other buggaboo is corner cabinets, don’t even get me started on those 🤦🏼♀️

My problem with wall ovens is that I'm short, which makes it even more difficult and dangerous to reach what's in the oven because of the door. I will have to stick with the old school range.
@tlcnorman2819Ай бұрын
The wall oven should be placed at the height level you are comfortable with. I am short and I was concerned about the location of the wall and speed oven. My height was taken into consideration, and the kitchen designer placed the ovens lower in the wall cabinet for safety. For cleaning, the door comes off and I can sit and clean my oven.

There are now plenty of options for swing door wall ovens, but they are usually significantly more expensive.

Are there wall ovens with doors that lift up or otherwise get out of the way when opened?

There are ovens with french door style doors. I believe Café has a model. I'm sure other brands do as well.
