The azumas are entering passenger service in the December Timetable Change. They are nearly finished testing.

Actually, their introduction had been delayed til early 2019 because the units are causing electrical problems north of York station.

Seeing the brand new Azumas running next to the crummy old pacers has an air of comedy about it, and a great advertisement for Northern of course! :-D By contrast the HST still looks pretty slick and you can see some similarities in the two designs when side by side. I will miss the HSTs and 225s when they go!....the pacers, not so much!
