I am new to MTurk, I found your video very informative. I did get one rejection out of about 100 HITS and his comment was that my MTurk ID was not in the system which I found strange because everyone else paid me. So I sent him my ID and never heard back. You are correct the rejection really hurts, especially for such a dumb reason.

Awesome! Very comprehensive. I was just watching "MTurk Panel" on the channel WM SSRMC. In it, a professor states that there are only 7300 active turkers. WHAAAAT!!!!???? Really? How? Gosh, maybe that is the reason I'd never heard of it until August despite actively looking for something like MTurk since 2008. I wonder if that's true.
@mturkguide28548 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I am trying to come up with good video material that is not HIT or Requester specific! I wonder how they define "active" as I am pretty sure there are far more than 7300 turkers in the system. Look at how fast 60k+ batches of popular HITs go!! Maybe AMZ will get a handle on their worker numbers when the new update rolls out!

Hi, I'm curious about returning HITs once I've accepted them. There are some requestors who allow you to take more than one of their surveys at any given time and others who say, sorry, you've completed max. amt. of our surveys already...so I end up returning the HIT, or some I return because they go on far too long for the pay. Where is my return value shown, how can I access it, and how does it affect my rating - if at all? Thanks. Your videos are great!
@mturkguide28548 жыл бұрын
Hi Ms J. For the most part (in general, there are exceptions) a true survey will be limited to one per person since there is data being collected and the same questions are being asked of every worker. The HITs where the requester allows you to complete more than one from the same group is considered a batch. Even within a batch the requester can limit the amount that you can complete.. this can be for many reasons but usually to allow a larger cross section of workers to access their HITs. I have been turking for two years and I have only seen 2 requesters that use your return/expiration rate as a metric to include/exclude workers from doing their HITs. Even at that the number was incredibly generous.. I think it was something like 40% or more.. If you are actively turking your return/expiry rate should be way higher than 40%. There isn't an easy way (that I know of) to find return rate unless you find a requester with HITs up that includes that metric as part of their qual. Overall though I really wouldn't worry about it since so few requester use it. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting!

greasyfork.org/en/scripts/19171-add-hidden-stats-to-dashboard-thefrostlixen this script will add your submitted, returned, and abandoned hit percentages to your dashboard.
@mturkguide28548 жыл бұрын
The script that Puck posted is correct. I usually do not advocate adding it because 1) I don't believe the metric is important enough to add another script to the mix and 2) I had interference with another script that I had running when I did try it. Again it wasn't important enough for me to assess what the issue was so I can't help others. If you feel very compelled to know the information I would download it, turn it on and update to see the numbers and then disable. Thanks Puck for the reply!

I completely agree. I think that in the beginning it felt important for me, but I don't even look at it anymore. So.. I should probably just uninstall it, lol. :)

Do you transfer your money out of Mturk everyday? How often do you transfer it from there to your bank account. I try as a goal to do $25 a week and transfer it then to my bank account. Do you think that is ok or I should do it more often?
@mturkguide28548 жыл бұрын
Hi Melodie, I do transfer pretty much every day to Amazon Payments. From there it depends on when I send it off to my bank. Right now I have it sitting in Amazon Payments to buy Xmas presents for the kids on Amazon. If I needed the money for a bill or whatever I would just send it to my bank one day before I needed it (except on weekends). Amazon Payments is a separate entity from MTurk although both are owned by Amazon. If Amazon cancels your MTurk account for some reason and you have money in there it will be gone - but if it is sitting in Amazon Payments they can't do much about it. That is why I recommend transferring once per day (they limit you to one transaction per day) so I suggest waiting until you are done turking for the day. Thanks for commenting! Love the feedback!

so mTurk is slow in the holidays??
@mturkguide28548 жыл бұрын
It definitely can be. It partly depends on the qualifications that you have. Generally, when the colleges are on break there is a dip in surveys since students aren't working. Yesterday was slow, today has been okay. I think things will be pretty normal until we hit Christmas. I have been working OCMP5 yesterday and today which is a closed qual so I have had steady work but I know that is not true of everyone.
