Damn, Columbia House and Blockbuster the 2nd and 3rd commercial. Putting into perspective right away how much has changed in 20 years.

Back in the day, I'd get $5 worth of those Wendy's nuggets, plus a burger, fries and drink and wolf it all down. If there's anything I miss about the 90s, it's my teenage metabolism the most.

Eugene Fräntz . No smartphones, awesome music, Windows 98. Much simpler times.

I'm 40 1996 was my senior year and yeah its actually not that much different especially not nearly as much as people make it out to be,the 80's and the 90's completely different a lot more than 90's & today actually, the only big difference in 90's is replace everyone today with cell phones with beepers / pagers back then

Shopping was something you could go and do for hours. Virgin Megastores, Tower Records, Wherehouse, Video Stores, porn was more of a get cos it wasn’t as easily accessible. MTV was great to leave on while doing homework or other activities. You were exposed to more because you weren’t as in control of your entertainment so you’d see/hear things you’d never search out. There were more movies to choose from that weren’t CGI kid flicks or superheroes. Jeans were baggier, boxer briefs were still newish, guys were bleaching and highlighting their spiky hair, girls would leave two long tendrils of hair haning in their face with the rest pulled back. Rap and R&B were more distinct, punk wasn’t pop, pop wasn’t cool, the sob stories and sappy songs on American Idol and The Voice couldn’t have survived the sarcasm in the mainstream and would have have to be relegated to VH1 and lite FM stations that played in Drs offices. Scandals that had nothing to do with politics (Nancy/Tonya, Lorena/JohnWayne, Menendez Bros), at least not as overtly as now. People seemed to have more money. Owing a house didn’t seem as unattainable, people supported themselves working at malls. Magazines were everywhere and it was like Instagram cos wanting to be seen in them was a goal for some. YA fiction was more slasher-y and not every book was a part of a series. “Extreme” became a huge marketing buzzword for a while and inspiration for comedic bits, SNL was funny then everyone left and there was this awkward season where they didn’t know how to utilize Jeneane Garofalo before Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon’s season which some saw as a renaissance of sorts. Less mass shootings. More people smoked and there were a lot of places to do it. Weed was still considered somewhat rebellious. No dabs. No store bought edibles. No vaping. People still used checks and debit wasn’t accepted everywhere. There was no need for the dark web cos the internet wasn’t as policed. Phone sex was a thing. Ska was popular and so was (cringe) swing. Nicholas Cage movies didn’t go direct to video (our VOD),
