MTV star Nelson Thomas renews faith, chooses amputation year after accident

Nelson Thomas, a former reality TV star and athlete, decided to have his right foot amputated on March 5, 2024, exactly one year after a near-fatal drunk driving accident, following multiple failed surgeries and rehabilitation attempts to heal his crushed ankle.

Strong man right there. I used to go to a yoga studio in Oakland CA and saw a girl with a long skirt on both legs amputated at the knees... just coming from the same yoga studio I was coming from. I have no excuses... or I'll say I decided to not make excuses for myself for most things.

Just nerve damage by itself can take over a year to heal. I agree this seems a bit rash but at the same time we aren't him, everyone has their limits of what they can tolerate. I live with chronic pain and there have been days I've wanted to chop my hand off, so I get it. Pain changes you, you aren't yourself when you're in pain every day.
